dog with tick fever licking cement/concrete

hi, my dog was diagnosed with tick fever 2 days ago. luckily we got him to a vet in time before it got worse. the vet said that he also has a chronic disease which causes him to be on vitamin supplements for the rest of his life. he is recovering quite well, started eating again and is on atibiotics and vitamins. here's the thing..... he has been chewing and licking the cement/concrete between the tiles. what does it mean??? its a new habit that started yesterday and he is just under 2years old.
