Muddy long coat!

Hello,
I posted on here when I had a puppy - oes x gsd; Murphy.
He's now 3 and a half 8O

And is the most loving, well behaved, such a mummies boy of a dog :) loves everyone and everything!

But I usually keep him clipped just for ease but I'm thinking of letting him grow over the winter. However, I'm worried about the mud! He is a very outdoorsy dog and walks/runs/plays ball/comes riding with me... So he gets muddy which in turn covers my house no matter how much I towel him and make him stay in his bed until dry, as soon as he shakes everything is covered!!!

How do you all cope with hairy dogs?!

This is the "devil" himself :P

Oh seriously CUTE!!

As for mud, I live in the desert, it is rare  Otherwise it is boots or wipe downs and keep them away from the white rug (and off the furniture). The other floors clean easily once the mud dries.

We had a post not too long ago about bevel trims on the lower foot to raise the hair up a bit to allow for mud. If mud is too deep, it's a stop at the bucket for the four paw dip in warm water and wipe off before coming indoors.
We keep a towel in the mudroom to wipe her paws before Benson comes in. We also have less problems with mud than with snowballs here. When it's just muddy, we put on booties (I make several pairs throughout the season - they occasionally disappear into deep snowbanks), and when it's snowy, it's booties and her snowsuit!

Have never used booties-when we get muddy paws it's a bucket of warm water outside and then towel inside + and at this time of the year Sprocket likes to lay by the rayburn, sons dog Ted seems to have taken over Sprockets box but Sprox doesn't mind-he just drops all his toys and teddys on top of Ted untill he gets fed up and moves so they both somehow fit in!!x
I remember Murphy as a puppy! We were all interested to see what this cross would look like. Thank you for posting an update.

Murphy is a beautiful boy! I hope you don't mind, but I think Murphy's puppy cut (in the devil suit  ) is adorable. Personally, I would keep him clipped. He has the sweetest face......

Laurie and Oscar
He does look adorable clipped and I am a bigger fan of long coats.
We live in a dry area so very little problems with mud, but If we had had Monty back in the UK at my parents house, I just couldn't have a long coat, it just is too wet and muddy there.

The few times Monty has gotten muddy here has been a nightmare, the event in the picture below took half an hour to wash out:
