Tails and behavior

So this morning the news is doing a special report about dog behavior and how their tails and body posture signals to other dogs what their feeling. REALLY? People don't know about how dogs send off signs to each other? Shouldn't people with dogs know this BEFORE they go to a dog park??? 8O

Most people are brain dead with re: to their dogs. Most view them as children who reason the same way we do and of course completely understand our long discourses to them.

It's why I avoid social functions with dogs. Yesterday was the Doggie Dash and Dawdle. No way I'd want K around all those other dogs........granted she needs the socialization, but I don't think she is ready for it.....or am I ready for brain dead owners.

Last night several people asked me about OES with regard to this story. I smiled and said I see the rumba butt and can read it, but most people and dogs don't see it or can read it.
If it was based on the same research that we've seen in the news here it is about research that has shown that dog's wag their tails slightly more to the right when they're happy and slightly more to the left if they are uncertain. Human's don't generally detect it but other dogs do.

They did the research by measuring dogs' heart rate while they showed them videos of dogs wagging their tails.

Us poor useless humans needed the slow motion before we could see the difference.
