Heart's Life Journey continues......

Nationals were so wonderful!!! Heart and I enjoyed every minute of it! Seeing our friends from other cities. Being with all those beautiful sheepies!

Feeling so much love and support from everyone, even the judges...It was hard not to shed a tear or two and there were times when I failed miserably and just let the tears fall.

But, what heartwarming memories I have. Every night Heart was pretty tired, but, in the morning, she was ready to put on her bling and head on out for another day of fun.

Last Sunday we went to the Halloween Parade in Lafayette Square with Judi, Harry, Bert, Coco and Stanley. Again, so much fun, more memories.

This evening I took Heart in to our vet for a check up. I had some concerns.....

When she sleeps, she inhales through her nose with loud 'snoring' then exhales from her mouth with a little hitch. I wanted to be sure this was 'normal' for what she is going through. She also gets me up at about 3AM (I think she gets too hot )so we go out on the front porch (it's pretty nippy that hour of the morning)...and she goes back to sleep and I read and watch her.

I have been worried about her hearing. I thought she may be going deaf. She doesn't respond to the word "treats"..she doesn't respond when I call her, and when I go up and touch her, she jumps.

The vet confirmed that Heart may very well be losing her hearing..it is all about the lymph nodes.

He told me that although her nodes are bigger, he thinks she is doing very well. She is still eating...eating...eating and still smiling.

Again, he told me to come in whenever I felt I needed to, and again, no charge for the visit..He is so kind!!!

I showed him her 2 Title Ribbons...1 for her Obedience Title and 1 for her AKC Therapy Title..and he got this huge grin on his face, petted Heart and told her what a great dog she was.

She is doing good. So are me and Dino...As long as she has got that skip in her step, a smile on her face and a kiss for mom and dad...that is all that matters today!!!!!

..................more later....

Heart you are an inspiration :hearts: :hearts: So glad to hear she enjoyed herself at the nationals and hey, losing your haring isn't so bad. Sending prayers to you and lots and lots of love! :hearts: :hearts:
You know Val, I remember saying the same thing about Isaac. I would tell Jim, "he still has the bounce in his stride yet". It was my barometer for how he was doing. Sounds like Heart is living every minutes to the fullest & not worrying about the future. :ghug:
Thanks for posting Val.
I've been thinking of you guys and it great to hear that Heart is still well. :hearts:
Thanks for the update on Heart. Rocky just asked about her yesterday.

So glad that she is still blinging and her routine is the same :hearts:

Aside from the hot flashes at 3 am-but she's in good company
I think about you and Heart every day. It warms my heart to know she is getting smothered with love and attention. Love her, love her, love her, that's all you can do. :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
It is good to hear Heart is doing so well and living life to it's fullest thanks to you and Dino. Thank you so much for the update. :hearts:
Helen,,,I guess I never realize that My Pearl and YOUR Pearl crossed the bridge within days of each other.....I bet they met up and were telling very embarrassing stories about us to each other......        ...I find it comforting that they are waiting for us together.....

Thank you for the update on you and Heart. I loved all of the pictures from Nationals with Heart smiling in each one. Enjoy every precious minute with your sweet baby.
thanks so much for the update one day at a time and enjoy her .. give her hugs from all of us
Thanks for the update and I LOVED seeing the pictures of Heart and her friends at the National.
You are in our thoughts often. Have traveled this road and know how hard it is. You are an inspiration
on how you are handling this journey with Heart. Your vet sounds like a true gem.

hugs & slurpy Sheepie kisses from Hudson, Chloe & Kristy

That all sounds so sweet. Making the best of a bad situation, it's such a tough thing but celebrating life is wonderful!
I'm so happy I got to hug Heart in person when I did...it helps.

I also have an update on my friend Sue's Hilo (her briard) who is Chewie's agility buddy. He does have stage 4 lymphoma, and is doing well on prednisone. I got to see him again at agility class last night. Sue has moved him down to shorter jump heights and plans on coming to class (no more competition) as long as he wants to. He's like Harry in agility.... ;)
Dawn, I think that is great what Sue is doing! If Hilo enjoys the toys, what a great gift for him to just have fun and live life to the fullest, as we all should do.

Tell Sue I admire her courage ~~~ And I know what she is going through....Huggs to her and Hilo from me and Heart.... :hearts:

I will do that. :) I've also been updating her on Heart and she totally understands what you are going through as well. You just hug your dog and keep doing the things they enjoy. :aww: :aww:
One day at a time. It's what we are doing with Harry and frankly I'm amazed he is still with us, still engaged in life though no voice anymore. His arthritic tail way and position tells us he's barking in his own way.

Make everyday pleasurable to Heart, lots of praise, touches and outings....whatever she enjoys. She doesn't know she's ill........she's still living each day to the fullest.........good example for us.
Heart certainly landed in the perfect home with you and Dino :hearts: We were so happy to see all three of you at the National. You're the BEST!
I was so happy to hug you and Heart! :hearts: It was wonderful to see her get her new title. :clappurple:

Heart was just smiling away and showing off her bling. :roses:
