WHY am I the ONLY one Tucker wants to chew on???

It's a pretty short question, really. Tucker never tries to maul anyone but me. My hands, feet, and elbows. Not all the time, but during his "evening witching hours". Dad and Sharon stayed with him last night while we went to a concert in Indy. Called to check in... "No, he hasn't mouthed or chewed on us at all".... Never does it to John either. I redirect his chewing when he starts in on me, but he's an adorable ball of fur, grabbing at me like a crazy dog. LOL.

Umm...cause your his favorite???? Seems logical to me...at least in a sheepie mind. 8)
Is your body lotion??

You are his favorite and probably has less respect for you. You are a playmate not a back leader. Be both honored and concerned.

That is so odd, because I am the hardest on him where discipline is concerned...
Puppy telling you in their own, painful, way he respects you? Kensie also enjoys chewing on me but it is part of the play time. I draw the line at actual nipping. As an older girl she knows the difference. Tucker may not.

Lately she's taken to chewing my lap blanket while giving me the eye, "You want this? Come get it and let's play."
Always keep a toy in your hand so when Tucker comes to nibble give him the toy. Asia gets all excited and I would give her the toy instead of my hand and now when she gets extra excited the first thing she does is look for her toy to put in her mouth. She does however, try to grab my hand gently when she's trying to give me direction or take me somewhere. Once Violet was having a hard time getting up and I didn't hear her "whale" call and Asia took me into her. As you know these dogs are herding dogs, so their instict is nip at heals and grab a hand. So always carry toys, Tucker will eventually understand not your hand but the toy.
Yeah, Kensie has a squirrel I shove in her mouth when she gets frisky, I need more around the house. Always in the wrong spot.
You must taste and smell good!
We got good advice early on to always put a toy in Sam's mouth when he started to nip. Apparently, it worked. Whenever he wants to play, he grabs a toy first. It's funny to watch him get too excited, drop it, then quickly pick it back up before he plays more.
Both of mine do this to me. My husband cab sit and watch TV all night and they lay by his feet. I come into the room and sit and Bam! They sit on me, lick me, put their butts in my face, nibble on my sweatshirt, etc. And I am the one who does all the training and discipline too.!
Funny that everyone here does the get the toy, Ramsey is the same! He knows get your toy when you walk in, everyone who comes over now also says, get your toy. He gets excited and nips at everyones hands. DO WHAT I WANT. The toy helps and he just backs his little butt up for pets instead.
Yep, gotta love the "toy" distraction method!

Benson gets a super-excited play session with us every evening. :excited: She always finds a toy to keep in her mouth, because she is just too excited not to nibble otherwise. Nipping means that any interaction stops immediately. She's learned that so well, she seeks out her own toys to grab. We haven't had to hand her one in over a year.
