I am sooo tired!

This kitten is worse than a newborn! lol I'm so sleepy from waking up every 2 hours to feed it. On the positive side, it seems to be doing great! Still don't want to get my hopes up too much since he's only 3 days old, but he's pretty active & makes little meowing sounds a lot. I hope he pulls through!

It is exhausting, but if he makes it, very worthwhile. I hope he does... good luck! :)
AHhhhhhhhhh sleepless nights all for the love of a critter!!! Boy can I relate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My advice....... nap nap nap!!!!!! (easy for me to say)!! Mom isn't feeding her AT ALL?????????? Oh dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A women that I work with had a litter of 11 bassett hound puppies a few months ago, when the puppies were 1 week old the mom slipped out of the house and got hit by a car and died. She had to hand feed those 11 pups for WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone of them made it. So take heart!
Keep up the good work it'll pay off!

The woman who used to run the local humane society was also an EMT at a neighboring ambulance company. When they would get a newborn litter in, she'd distribute kittens to everyone working that night within 10 miles! She'd even bring them when we were teaching EMT class. There'd be 3 instructors teaching a different section of the class each bottle feeding a kitten or puppy while lecturing on head trauma or extrication!
Hi,

How's the little one doing? I experienced the same thing 2 years ago when I volunteered to foster for the Humane Society. They called frantically once as there were 5 kittens dropped off in a paper bag that were obviously just newborn as the littlest one had afterbirth still on her. Estimated to be aprox 2 hrs old. I was given two.

The only reason mine survived was Mean Mama Kat (formally known as Asia) suckled the kittens and kept them warm and cleaned them. She had no milk. I was fostering her as well and had just had her spayed 2 wks before. I bottle fed them every 2 hrs for 3 wks.. then every four hours after that age...gawd was I exhausted. I feel for you!

MamaKat never left them during that time and took them on as her own and I just had to feed them. Apparently little kittens can't go to the bathroom on their own during that time. They need to be stimulated by the mother who then eats it. I know sounds gross but that's how the box or nesting place is kept clean until they are mobile. Luckily Mama Kat (which is how she ended up with that name) did all of that.

To stimulate them you need a warm cloth and rub their little bottoms after each meal. You probably have done that anyhow. If you need any advice please feel free to ask. Good luck and no matter what happens you've done the best you can. You're awesome for taking on the challenge!

Aw, how sweet!!!
This kitty is still doing great, and I'm amazed! It's 5 days old now, and one of its eyes is starting to crack open. It still has tons of energy, so I can't help but get my hopes up that he'll make it. He's still tiny though. I guess only time will tell, but I'm not giving up. I've even getting used to the lack of sleep now! lol
What's his name, what's his name?

When the eyes are open you'll have to update the pictures. So happy to hear he's doing really well...good for you to sacrifice so much for him. How's Allie doing?
Sounds like he is doing great! The longer he survives the better his chances are, you're doing a great job! Go kitty go! LOL
I think you shouls name him SURPRISE
No name yet...I'm scared to name him/her just yet. :)

We're thinking Oreo (since he's jet black with a white stripe down his belly) or Cookie. It's been through so much...it's the one we dropped, its mom not taking care of it, etc... and has survived it all. It's just a tough little cookie, we're thinking that for the name! My hubby said Lucky, but all of my pets named Lucky have been anything but! lol
On the backside of the kitten if the holes are close together it is a girl, if they are far apart it is a boy. 8O :D
Cookie is so cute and pretty gender neutral.
Lucky is a good name and I also like Chance, from the movie Homeward Bound. Sounds like this little guy has had a second chance...then again Feisty would be suitable too. :O)

A kitten can be considered a newborn....
