Cage training and everything else about a new puppy

When Max was a baby, we didn't cage train him. Novice puppy owners back then. Now, with new little Tucker, we want to do it right. I've read many articles, books etc.. but still want some pointers from the pro's here.

Right now, here is Tuck man's schedule.

Breakfast around 7:30 - play time for 1/2 hour -45 minutes- potty etc.
Cage- 8:15 ish

I typically get home from my appts around 2:00- so lunch is at 2:30
I let him out of his cage when I get home- potty and play for a 1/2 hour or so- then lunch

He plays around in the house until John gets home around 3:30... and then they play outside- potty
while I finish up working. ( I work from home in the afternoon)

Comes back in, plays and cooks supper with me... and eats supper at 7:30. Plays and trains, and potties until 8:30, and then is back in his cage at 8:30. He goes out one more time, around 10:30 for potty. He sleeps through the night...

He goes potty first thing in the morning- around 5:30.

I have a friend that has offered to come over so he can have lunch earlier-- but he seems ok on this schedule. We feed 3/4 cup for breakfast. 1/2 cup for lunch and 3/4 cup for supper.

What am I missing, doing wrong, need to do?? Experts please!

If it's working, I wouldn't change a thing.
Sounds good.

I can't tell if he goes back in the crate when you are working in the afternoon? If not, that could be a good idea so that he is more used to being in there when you are home/some stuff is going on. Even if you just put him back in for a couple hours.
You and Tucker are doing great! :clappurple: :clappurple:
Sounds like you have a great schedule going! If it is working- stick to it :)
If he's not messing in his cage, he's doing great! Don't know if you have the crate partially covered or it is a partially covered crate to begin with.....but a little extra cover makes it more cozy. Leave the door open when he's outside of it. Let him use it as his private cave when he needs to unwind. If he has toys, you might want to put him in the crate with a toy but leave the door open, let him decide if he wants to stay in or not. (probably not initially). In time it will become his own special place.
