8 ounce sour cream 8 ounce cream cheese 16 ounces of grated sharp cheddar 4 ounces chopped green chilies ( canned are fine ) 1/2 cup finely chopped green onion 1 cup diced ham 1/2 lb finely chopped cooked bacon Mix all the ingredients together and put into the hollowed out bread loaf . Bake @350 for 45 minutes . Depending on your oven you may need to leave it and extra 5-10 minutes. Serve immediately with bread , crackers and raw vegetable slices ( raw carrots ,cauliflower , broccoli ) This is great for a crowd or potlucks or game day or anytime . Easy and good. |

You are so right , fresh chilies are better and starting to be more available in the regular grocery stores . But I like to give people options in my recipes so if you can't get the real thing a substitution doesn't ruin this dip. |
Canned are a good way to start a chile addiction. Also having the smaller cans on hand are great for a quick quesadilla for lunch. |
