A New Champion!!

Yep, my baby Bond is now an AKC Champion!!!

:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:

We traveled out to the Milwaukee area to participate in the SE Wisconsin OES Club's specialty shows (2 of them) on Friday, and the supported entry Waukesha KC all breed shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Bond had 10 (of the 15 points needed) and 1 (of the 2 majors needed) towards his Ch. There were 5 point majors in dogs on the 2 Friday shows, and ended up with 4 point majors in dogs on the weekend.

Friday - 4:30pm , 1st show.....and he did it!! :yay: :yay: He won open dogs, then went on to win Winners Dog (WD) and take the 5 point major! Extra icing on the cake, he won BOW - (Best of Winners) also. I was excited, heck a whole gang of us were excited! :excited:

This is Bond....

:lmt: :lmt:

Friday - 2nd show at 6:00pm. The 1st show ran late, and we didn't have time to move up (into the BOB - Best of Breed class - with the other champions).
Just in case (mistake in the math, ineligible entry, etc.) we made the decision to still show - just for insurance, in case we would win again.
Well, he did it again! a second 5 point major in the same day!! It was crazy - he got 10 points and 2 majors all in one afternoon. 8O

Again, here is Bond...

Apparently, all this winning is hard work!
His half sister Jordy won WB (Winner's Bitch), and she needed the crossover points from the dogs to finish her CH.....and with a little slacking off on our part to help her out (or not - maybe she would have won but I wanted to help her out) Jordy won BOW and she finished her Ch as well. :cheer:

I did get "real" pictures taken by the photographer of both of these wins, but it will be awhile until we get them. I'll post copies when I have them. :D

Then I trotted myself off to the Superintendent's office to do a move up - to compete with all the "big dogs" for Saturday and Sunday. We had some really stiff competition - they were all three Grand Champions. Jane had her past national specialty winner Jim Dandy, and Jere had her heavily winning girl Sue in this show.

Saturday - 2pm.
We enter the ring for Best of Breed competition....and after deliberation be the judge, we get moved to the front of the line....and then Jordy gets moved up behind us....and that was it - we just won Best of Breed! Holy crap. I almost died. 8O :excited: And little half-sis Jordy got BOS - Best of Opposite Sex. :cheer:

Then it hit me - I'm going in the Group ring...
We got re-primped, and went in. There were about 18 BOB herding dogs. Ann is coaching me - saying just show like you always do, and it will be fine...and then mentions that there are many of the top ranked herding group dogs here. 8)
I must say - Bond was just stellar, and showed his little heart out. And thankfully I held up my end too. And we won Group 3 (3rd place in the herding group)!! More insanity!!! :excited: :excited:
More win pictures taken, of course!

No Bond napping picture, but Kristine took one of me with the ribbons later, in our motel room before we went out for a celebratory dinner and drink. And Bond was in fact napping.

OMG, we still had Sunday to go....
In we go into the ring Sunday afternoon. :D
Not BOB- Jere's girl won it. But - we got BOS (best of opposite sex) over the other male (past national specialty winner, mind you) so it was not a real loss at ALL.
AND Kristine won Winner's Bitch, and then Best of Winners for the crossover 4 point major with his littermate sister Becky!!! :cheer: Sweet day for the family :D :D

Back in the grooming area - here are the sibs-
With their humans and their ribbons:

Becky and Bond chilling:

Bond with his ribbon-

Here is Bond chilled in the motel room, with his ribbons and some of the prizes from the 3 days -

And just for fun, here is Bond almost ring ready-

(Becky the photobomb too  )

and the same show 1 year ago as a 9 month old -

and 20 months ago as a baby!

Thanks are due, BIG thanks.... to Kristine for this wonderful puppy boy who is growing up to be a multi-talented and handsome young dog, and of course to Chewie's sister Macy for giving birth to him! To Sunny and Marnie for all the pre-ring and ringside help and support. To Ann and Julie for their Becket's "contribution" as Bond's sire, and their collective help. Truly a group effort!

Yes he is. He'll be keeping his hair  and be showing, but also competing in Rally (Novice) and herding, and the Therapy Dog parade.

Chewie gets herding, rally (RAE - combined) and agility (4 classes), and Therapy Dog parade.

Yikes, better hope the banking acct. gets padded :plead:

Well I can't say that I am at all surprised, but still it is great to see the judges recognizing what we here already know, that Bond is fantastic. He got a great start in life, followed up by landing in a great home with you and your family, and he has big brother Chewie to show him the ropes. How could he go wrong with Chewie as his mentor!! You should open up an OES finishing school, with Chewie as Headmaster! Congratulations Bond and to you too for just being calm and letting him strut his stuff in the ring. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Kim, as I scroll by - reading of having a OES Finishing School just cracks me up. Right now I'm at work, just laughing about it. Chewie would no doubt be honored to be headmaster. Look how well he's gotten Bond to toe the line!! 8)

Now all I can think about is a kind of Hogwarts for sheepies! We already have a Tonks and Luna. Chewie could be the wise Dumbledore, overseeing the young ones as they grow up! Chewie would rock a wizard's hat!!!

Bond's certificate came in the mail!
