My sick baby

Hello I am new to this ,I have an OES eight years old. In May I had three lumps removed one on his front leg small on belly and a bigger one on his back leg. We had a hard time getting the back leg to heal but is all healed now. Since the surgery Jasper has had diarrhea , we had related it the antibiotics he had taken for so long. Now his Thyroid , cholesterol are low plus a couple others are low. My Vet is send it out for more testing, she thinks it may be the thyroid. I am hoping some one many have had some thing similar and could give me some feed back . Thank you Jasper's Mommy

Sorry to hear your baby is sick BUT...my dog just had two lumps removed as well. But they came back benign and just fatty so hope your';s do too. Thryoid...not a big problem. My dog and many others on this forum have low thryoid and it is very easily treatable with a thyroid pill you need to give every day. the Vet will give you the dose and then you need to go back in about three weeks for another blood test to see if the levels need more adjusting. But the pills are tiny and easy to give and not that expensive. She will need to stay on them for the rest of her life but really its is no big deal. My dogs takes Soloxine, a small purple pill, and he takes it twice a day. It made a HUGE difference in his behavior and his immune system and his weight.

Don't worry. Follow what your vet recommends and things will be okay. I am sure many others on this forum will give you their thoughts as I know many OES are on thryoid pills.

Welcome to the forum...and keep us posted.

Thank you Ashley for responding to me,that is what the Vet is leaning towards because it was low. He did have other thing low but she believes that is from the diarrhea. Again thank you from MY boy Jasper and me take car and stay cool. If you don't mind what State are you in we live in PA.
I am sorry your baby is poorly. I hope he responds soon to treatment, stay on the forum we are oes mad on here. and Welcome! :go: :wag:
We are on Long Island, in New York. I had a lot of health problems with my boy and once they started the thryoid meds, he became a different dog. Happy again and energetic. A Low thryoid can effect their immune system, their behavior, their weight, just about everything. Get that in check. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Thank you still wait for test results to come back,we got him to eat two of the nights but today he just is not wanting to eat. Some of that could be the heat.
