Do OES Go Through Adolescence?

Our deaf OES puppy (well, she's 18 months now) seems to be going through what I can only describe as adolescence. She used to be fairly obedient on her leash and now, she is always jumping, grabbing the leash and trying to chase cars. She's 70 pounds and I have some trouble controlling her which was not the case just 3-4 months ago. She still listens when I insist with my hand signals or tug the leash very hard, but she seems to be a little more defiant. Am I imagining this - or do puppies go through the "terrible teens?" (She is still very sweet and cute so it is hard to be angry with her for long)

Well, up until today, I would have scoffed at the idea of doggie adolecents...however, I left Panda inside and Brian got home soon after I left and if lo and behold if she didnt give him a cocked head look and peed right in front of him....she hasnt done it with me yet...but shes 20 mnths old and this is the 2nd time in so many weeks thats she done this...I swear I had her perfectly potty trained and she was really easy TO train...and now this...If you could see me now, you'd see me shaking my head!!!!
The real question is whether after the onset of adolescense they ever outgrow it?

Patience and back to the basics of training. Back to nothing in life is free.
Terrible teens, terrible twos, etc...............

If you continue having problems with the leash, you might consider the prong type, I think its called a greyhound. I don't like them, but had one female years ago that I had a real problem with. Bought one, put it on her to go out and it only took a couple times for her to realize I was in control...not her. Back to the regular leash and all was fine.

A neighboor had a Shepherd that dragged her. She was injured badly. I loaned her the collar, and the same thing happened. He was fine on the leash after that.

I've had dogs for many years, and raised puppies. As I watched them interact I seen so many human characteristics. Knowing how people act helped me teach the dogs, and watching the dogs, helped me interact with people. Sounds silly maybe, but true.

I too, have a deaf dog. She's 14 1/2 now. She can't hear, but I still speak to her while using the hand signals. I don't know if she's learned how to read my lips yet or not, but I can read hers.
Yes, the furkids go thru various phases. They are testing you. Keep calm but be strong. Reinforce training but also reinforce love.

Panda might need to have something new in her life.........a new park, a new ride, a new training class. (I don't think a new toy will be enough, but maybe  ) Concentrating on something new might get her through these bratty times more quickly. Gee, you could always get another sheepdog to keep her company    no, no, just kidding
Sheepieboss...Just had Sue and Bailey over..thats pretty new...she goes pretty much everywhere with me when I dont have to work!! She is just doing this with Brian..maybe she is testing him? He also doesnt let her out the very second he gets home.....still, she should know better!!! Another dog??? lol...So far my hands are filled with this one..I dont know how you do it!!! Kudo's to you!!
Oh, Panda! Was it on the same rug?
No, It was on the hard wood floors.....I just cant believe it!!! I've been bragging about how good she is....and then this... At least it wasnt on the rugs!!! I just saw a commercial for some type of product that REMOVES urine stain...I wish I wrote it down....they send you a blue light and everything .....anybody try this product??
Never brag. They hear you and love proving you wrong!
Darcy--
We must've been watching the same shows and commercials. It was strange, last night there were 2 (!) different products advertised (that I had never see/heard of before) to remove urine stains and odor. The first one I remember the name because it seems like they could come up with a more clever name:

Urine Off

And the other one was something like Zero Off ...
Hey that it!!! Urine off....hummmmm...Do you think it works? Of course everything works on tv...but it has peaked my interest!
