Concerned about my husband

Troy had some blood work done, and got the results back last week.
The results show that he has inflamation in his arteries. The Dr. Wanted him to get into his family physician within a week, and just to be on the safe side start taking aspirin and carry one in his pocket at all times.
He has an appt tomorrow morning.
I'm so worried. Yes he is a smoker. He has gone from a pack a day to 3 a day. He started this last Thursday when he got his test results. It's an addiction, so I'm very proud of him for that.
His dads side of the family has a history of heart problems. If you live too 53 you live to be in your eighties. So I think this has both of us very concerned.
In the middle of enjoying our new house plans, and our new life together this happens.

A very worried wife.

Lisa: I'm so sorry you have this news, but wait until you go to the appointment tomorrow. I know it's really hard, but hang in there. Your husband and you will be in our prayers, positive thoughts and by your side,of a fasion. Keep us up to date on How he is doing and how you're doing as well. Crossing fingers for a stess relieving appointment tomorrow.
Sending positive thoughts your way, along with a prayer or two. Helen is right. Wait til the doctor's appointment before you start full blown worrying. It's great that Troy has cut down on his smoking. That is the single most important thing he can do. The other good thing is that since he is so concerned, he will follow doctor's orders and you will be by his side when he celebrates his 80th birthday!
Hugs to you, Lisa. I know you are frightened. Tomorrow's appointment cant come soon enough :ghug: Hope that it is minor and a positive outcome for a healthier lifestyle :hearts:

We will keep you both in our thoughts.
We are concerned about your husband too! But on a more positive note, if they know there is a problem, they can fix it and we all know that he has you to back him up. As for the smoking, he should be very proud of himself for cutting back so much. There must be a special place in hell for all of the leaders of the cigarette industry. Right next to the animal abusers. Sometimes health scares can be a blessing in disguise and can help lead a person to renewed good health. :crossed: and :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
Thinking of you today.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they mean so much.
Troy has to go in Thursday for a stress test.
Hopefully this will sort things out.
Will update later

Lisa, thinking of you and sending positive thoughts to your husband. Glad to see they are doing testing. if there is a problem, they will find it during the stress test - sometimes immediately during the test - and they will be able to correct it...As for smoking...I am a smoker too. I get it...Has he tried the patch or an electronic cigarette? the patch worked well for me...It is not the nicotine that is the problem. it is the tar and the smoke, etc. he can be on the patch, feed his addiction for nicotine and slowly decrease the levels...Good luck and keep us posted...
You and Troy are in my prayers this week. It will be okay.

FWIW, there is a link between inflammation and heart disease. It doesn't mean that you will have heart disease, just another risk factor.

I have inflammation also, as a result of lifelong allergies. I have changed my diet, upped the exercise and am working on losing weight. I cut out caffeine, which helped my BP drop from normal to low normal. I started allergy shots again.
It's good they caught this. Getting the proper testing will help decide the course of treatment. Sending positive thoughts to both of you.
Special thoughts for you and Troy. Hope the news is good on Thursday. :ghug:
Sending lots of positive thoughts!

Hopefully he will take this and become obsessive about something other than cigarettes. Time for whole lifestyle change.
How is Troy doing today?

Hope all is well.
