Do dogs get black and blue?

Just wondering if dogs get black and blue bruising when they get hurt? My dog just had surgery and they sent me home with instructions like...look out for swelling, brusing, etc in the incision area...Dogs get black and blue? :lmt:

Yes, but not as noticeable with all their coloring, especially if over a grey skin area. Swollen, pinkish then a bit off colored as it heals. If it gets swollen to where you think, uh oh and red, back to vet ASAP. Normally dogs heal quite well, just keep them quiet and their tongues away from the stitches. Keep the area clean but don't fuss over it. I didn't put goo, antibiotic cream as I figured air and time were the best......and always was.
So far so good. Both sites look nice and clean. He seems comfy - although on some meds that make him sleepy. No licking and no scratching of either area so, our healing process is going well. :)
Glad the recovery is going well. :D

Yes, most any animal get bruises, just like us. If you have blood, you bruise :)
Fruit bruises, and not just blood oranges.
