We are alright - it's about 10 miles south of us. Several friends lost everything - haven't reached everyone yet. There are still many missing people and worst is chdren buried in the rubble of their school. It is completely surreal and feels like it isn't really happening.
I just got home tonight and heard about it. :( :(
The poor kids, families and town :(
I was watching Monster Tornado in "real time" on msnbc yesterday and the distruction is unbelieveable. Those poor people. More tornadoes/storms are expected today. Please Lord give the people the strengh it will take to make it through this.
 I have just been watching this on tv, it is so awful, some lady pulled her little dog out alive made me cry. I just hope that everyone we know is ok....just doesnt seem real when you see the photos. xx
My heart is breaking for all those affected, especially those that lost loved ones.
I just found out that Chewie and I (as a Disaster Relief Team thru TDI) have been activated to work as volunteers for the victims in OK. I have some work obligations over the holiday, but we will be heading down there late next Tuesday evening, after I get off work. It's about an 11 hour drive from us, and we will be staying a week.
Will Chewie's job be to comfort people?
Or will he be crawling around in and on the rubble looking for people?

Comforting people, but also in the past the dogs have been used when people are able to return to their homes/businesses...to give them support when they see the ruins. We will be out in the neighborhoods, etc.
We often get used in the shelters, help console children, assist with stress in the waiting rooms for insurance, FEMA aid, and destress the other volunteers and municipal support people etc. too.

:wag: That's great - It was terrifying seeing all those damaged homes on TV......
...must be really tough to find your own home completly destroyed.
How Nice that you and Chewie and can help people through those tough times.

8O It was awful to see the size of the tornado.......didnt know they could be so big and horrific.
Gosh just seen it on TV and the damage and lucky not too many people passed away as it could of been worse. Hope the goverment & insurance companies work fast to rebuild the houses another thing I don't get is the house building system. Build them with sticks & not brick ( I might be wrong ). In Japan they build earthquake proof buildings

Well, I'm glad it's this and not the other, which scares me.
I could imagine a dog getting stuck in the rubble or worse, losing his footing and taking a piece of rebar thru his chest.

Good luck down there.
Great work Team Chewie. Take all our love and prayers with you for the people affected.
Just been reading up that the USA get 75% of the world Tornados & Canada gets 5%
Hoping for the best possible outcome for all the missing folks.

Chewie will bring a smile to many faces. Godspeed on your trip, Dawn.
