Abby
 I'm not sure where to start on a eulogy for her. She was such a huge, huge part of our life: our first sheepie...Scott's first dog (that was really "his")...  the dog who brought us around to things like taking our dogs everywhere with us, traveling and working with us wherever we went. She had so many adventures all over the state of Alaska, had a regular "fan club" of my art customers who also became sheepie lovers after meeting her.  She encountered many moose, bears and other wildlife, raised our younger sheepie Eggbert and kept him in line (as well as any other young dog she encountered!) and always kept her ladylike poise.  She was a finished Champion (Ch Mount Higgins Abigail Courtney) who was well known enough in our state (among dog show folks) that strangers would sometimes approach us because they recognized her from her show days. She was very brave, and game for *anything*. The only things that phased her were (oddly enough) certain articles of clothing (long coats, tall hats, feather boas) or hairstyles (dreadlocks horrified her)...my friend always called her a "working dog for the fashion police". She inspired artwork:   And inspired several people we know to choose sheepdogs or similar breeds for themselves. She was an amazing, irreplaceable dog, and we'll always love her and treasure her memory.  |
