Work-related brag

I'm a hospital librarian which means I am expected to do my job without money for books. Two months ago I applied for a state grant for $5,000 and yesterday was notified that I got the money! 230 grants were awarded throughout the state, mainly to public and school libraries. I am the only hospital on the award list. This is the first grant I've written and it took a lot of blood, sweat, toil and tears and I don't think it was really that good! But it was good enough for me to win the maximum amount awarded.

So I'm pretty proud of myself and can't wait to spend the $$$$$.

A lot of people don't realize how much work goes into applying for grant money. Its so nice to hear that your application was successful!

About 2 months ago I started a collection development list (that's what we librarians call "stuff to buy'"). That list totalled about $2500 and around that time we saw the grant notice. We put the list on hold so I have those right off the bat to order. Grants apparently require you to keep records and write reports, neither of which I am good about! This is going to be very interesting.
