OES backseat driver

Winston found a way to beat the baby gate, he stands on the couch and looks over my shoulder! He's fine until he tries to whisper in my ear!

:D :D My dog sits between my husband and I and looks right out the front window - as if he is watching the road. Sometimes he leans his head on our shoulder

I usually ride with the dogs in crates but since we lost our "dog van" in the flood, we haven't replaced it. We have a Jeep Wrangler that only fits one crate. So, one goes in the crate and the other is the back seat driver!
The boys sit in then back seat of the car, often with seatbelts, and never bother us in the front seat.

In the RV Winston likes to stand next to my wife and look out the front window. They tend to leave me alone but since I am a rookie RV driver we get concerned that Winston will decide he needs to jump in my lap so we took Ron's advice and got a baby gate to keep them out of the cockpit.

Winston is determined to look out the windshield.
That looks like a great vantage point...until you have to stop suddenly. But I bet he loves it up there. He can supervise everything!

If I was a sheepdog, I'd do the same. Plus I get motion sick - so front facing is my choice.

My two hairy boys each have different travel styles.

Chewie loves to perch - so he usually backs up onto the console between the front seats (rear facing) and perches. I can reach back and pat his fluffy butt when driving. :) He also sits on the back seat and rests his chin over the back of the seat and gazes out the rear window. His 3rd option is laying on the floor in the back seat, and somehow resting his chin up on the seat...quite a stretch in an Element!

Bond is all about the seat. He lays, but with his back over the edge of the seat and feet against the upright part of the seat...100% of the time, never facing the other way. Crazy dog, I always am sure he is going to roll off! He also perches on the seat and looks out the side windows - never the front. :?
He is so cute. I have a mini van so makes for perfect viewing for all 3 girls. Violet sits on the couch in the back, Asia sits on the seat near the window and China will stand and look out the window or will lay down, unless the other seat is up, she'll sit down on tat seat. I sometimes feel like I'm driving in a cartoon.
Navigator! Or weapons officer. Or the "are we there yet? child. No silly baby gate is gonna keep him from his job.
:D :D :D :D
