Recognized because of my dogs.

Do you have people recognize you because of your dog(s). I went to a wine tasting tonight and I had two separate ladies at different times ask if I was the girl with the beautiful dogs. 8) Yep it IS all about them. I live in a town with of a population of about 2000 people so Laika and Langley stand out :)They are the only Old English Sheepdogs in Lunenburg that I know of.

I have the same experience. I am recognized all the time because of mine. People don't know my name or what I do, but they do know my dogs!!
Oh and the dogs think their name in public is beautiful dogs. :)

:D :D :D
People always call me Mariah's mom or José's mom. Obviously my dogs make a better impression on people than I do! :lmt:
When we venture out to our local outdoor mall without (GASP!) the girls, EVERY store clerk asks about them; mainly wanting to know if they're OK. It's gotten to the point where we're not only allowed inside the stores, the clerks come outside to escort us in...

ha! oh my too funny. The local hardware store allows dogs and if I walk by on your walk the clerk comes running out with cookies. I tell these stories to people who have "regular" dogs and they cannot believe it. I cannot imagine taking a walk and not see almost every person driving by smiling or having a good chuckle. Finger pointing whispers of beautiful dogs. Sometimes I don't now where to look. :lmt:

Let's hear everyone's story of having a sheepdog and the attention you get :)
Yes, we get the same treatment around our town too. When Pooh Bear passed away, everyone wondered where he was. Then we we got Angus a few months later, everyone thought he was Pooh. It was difficult to explain it wasn't him, but Angus has his own fan followings now! They do attract attention no matter where they are. We can be outside with him and people stop their cars just to say how beautiful he is. Gotta love them!!!!!
Absolutely true! Like being part of the entourage of a celebrity

It is a real mood elevator when I'm having a bad day
I had a bus load of people get off go straight to the dogs and posed with them for pictures. I couldn't believe it! Langley & Laika are on many Asian facebook pages I am sure :)
Our girls get special treatment at the Cheryl's & Co. cookie shoppe. When Jen goes in to buy cookies, the girls and I wait outside. Every time, one of the young girls who work behind the counter comes outside with a fresh plain sugar cookie for each of the girls. And they must sit before getting the cookie and they know it. Odd thing... I never get a cookie.....

Yes, but not for the sheepdogs. We were known as the polar bear house or Great Pyrenees house. Four big whites out did 3 sheepdogs. Since the sheepdogs were never in full coat......at most half or shorter, their full beauty was not known. We don't live in an urban environment to where to could "take them to town" to see the sites. How fun a small town would be with people walking about so a parading sheepdog would be noticed!
My dogs get the same notariaty as well. Even when I go to the bank without the girls, the tellers always send dog bones home for them. All of the fast food places got to know them real well and would ask about them if they weren't with us. A few years ago when I only had Violet, she and I would go off in my convertable with the top down and would get lots of waves. Everyone on US 1 knew us the lady with the beautiful dog. lol
When Tiggy was nearly a year old I took her to a local area street festival. :twitch:

I couldn't get to see anything because people kept stopping me to ask if they could pat her or have their picture taken with her. I ended up having to politely ask one group of Japanese girls to finish up. There were five of them and they decided they would get photos in virtually every combination possible. I was shoved aside while they did a group shot with Tiggy, individual shots with Tiggy and then they started two at a time shots with Tiggy that's when I put my foot down. We were going to be there all day.

When I take Rastus to the off lead park everyone asks where's Tiggy. When I take Tiggy no one asks where's Rastus. :( Poor Rastus.
Ah poor Rastus, I think he looks very special with all those spots. Dalmatians are even less common than sheepdogs in Calgary.
I can't lie... I USE my dog all the time for her popularity. Going somewhere... "oh crap...must grab yuki first!!" ...because it means no matter who is there, they get cancelled out as soon as they see me ....I mean Yuki :)

Well of course! What else are they good for! ')
It has been a joy reading these posts, My first OES, kids came to the door to see if Dudley could come out to play (they addressed me as "Uh-Uh-Uh ....... can Dudley come out"). My second OES, shortly after I got her, a church choir bus broke down and they pulled into the ice cream parlor across the street. I had over 70 people crowded around her, she greeted every one (numerous times) and made the 3 hour breakdown much more pleasant for them (they all came over, pulled up grass or sidewalk, and made themselves at home, with Izabelle, the proud hostess). Chloie goes to the gas station with me, they all (customers and workers) pet and fawn over her, then turn to me to say, "yes sir, can I help you?"

I feel kind of like when I had small children (with a soiled diaper) they fawned on the little ones and gave me dirty looks................

The entire town knows Chloie, but if it is just me, I have to explain who I am (Chloie's dad). I it better than Dudley, the entire county knew him. Do you have any idea how strange to be 40 miles from home and have a stranger walk over to your car, say "Hi Dudley" and start to pet your dog?

Poor Rastus. I think he's a beautiful boy. I do know what he's going through, however, poor Asia was in the same prediction with two beautiful sister that stood out. Asia is beautiful as well, but everyone went crazy over China and Violet. Asia has come of her own and now people make a great fus over her as well...she really is a beautify and that is not only a proud mum speaking. :hearts:

Yes before Tiggy came along everyone commented on how handsome Rastus was and petted him as Dalmos aren't all that common around here.
Now it's all about Tiggy.
