Best dry food? UK?

I have just moved house- and I have a very intermittent internet connection so I'm typing this as fast as I can lol!

I've been feeding Ru Purina Pro Plan Athletic for the last 4 years or so. I've been adding various things to try and make it more interesting, he refuses to eat his dry food for up to 4 days before I finally cave in and mix in a little something. The vet often comments he's underweight. I've tried canned food, melted cheese mixed with water (to coat all the biscuits), roast chicken and water, gravy, pet grade minced beef and a ton of other stuff.

With the move, I'm on a tight budget and had been mixing a third of a cup of Bakers (also made by Purina) to his 1.5 cups of Pro Plan which he has been LOVING. I thought I had finally found my dream answer, it's so cheap and available in supermarkets! However, I just googled Bakers and it seems it's a pretty nasty food, even as a top up as it has so many additives and nasties that I don't want to even add this to his usual food.

So.. what do you guys (more in the UK I guess?) feed your sheepies?

My girls are grazers, but sometimes, if we have a big day ahead, I need them to eat in the morning. I have been mixing a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt with their Pro Plan. It is inexpensive, they think it is yummy, and it is safe for them to eat. Normally I just leave food down and by the end of the day they have eaten but in a pinch the yogurt has worked.
My two are on James Wellbeloved Lamb and Rice and are also a bit fussy about eating the kibble by itself and I confess I do add something 'yummy' to make sure it gets eaten as If I leave it down Poppy has a tendancy to 'hoover' up anything Sweetpea leaves and she really doesn't need to eat two dinners! James Wellbeloved also do a range of 'treat' biscuits called Crackerjacks in an Ocean White fish flavour which have quite a 'fishy' smell that the dogs love. I've found a couple of these crumbled up into their dish with the kibble is enough to get them to eat it and a bag of treats lasts a long time this way! I also sometimes make up a weak solution of Bisto Low salt gravy granules and pour on the kibble while warm which they also like this very much!
Bloo has Applaws complete dry food and he has a tin of butchers for his tea.
James wellbeloved turkey and rice kibble-had wind on the lamb. I add a bit of warm water to "melt" the gravey quicker.x
Summer and Till are both on Green Dog turkey and rice kibble. I always add warm water to it as it makes it smell good and they woof it down. I have got some doggy gravy but I dont tend to use it. They both love pasta, rice and cottage cheese and veg so I often put some of that on. I must look those JWB treats out, Summer loves biscuit treats but I have yet to find any that dont upset her tum. I wouldnt use Bakers it has a really bad reputation. I shouldnt worry Ru will eat when he is hungry! :wag: I tell you what Summer does adore..I buy brown bread when it is reduced and put slices in the bottom of the oven so it bakes, store it in a tin and she has that as a treat, makes a lovely scrunchy noise.
ps just noticed you are in Daventry that is quite close to Northampton!
Yes Sue- I'm actually living in Yelvertoft, the closest town is Rugby but I'm in Northants and under Daventry Council :D

There are some great ideas there, I often moisten the kibble to release the smell. The best thing I've found is to remember to save just a tablespoon or so of my dinner and mix it in with his food although I won't give him anything spicy. I did buy those James Wellbeloved treats, and he started farting like crazy and it smelled of seaweed :twitch: they soon went in the bin. It's great to hear what everyone else is using
Hi everyone not been on here for ages!! Ive started using a local brand (made in Betws Y Coed) called PERO gold with pasta. Elvis is very fussy but he does eat this one although not the pasta so that's all left in his bowl!! You can buy on line and its reasonable priced and free postage. There are always offers and there are other flavours.
