Sheepdogs at slain officer's service
Quote: Today was the funeral for Det. Jeremiah MacKay who was the last victim of a rogue former police officer who turned on fellow officers and their families. Over 8,000 people attended and countless more watched the 12 mile procession of police and fire vehicles to the service. All TV stations in So. CA carried the funeral live. Det. MacKay's best friend, Det. Roger Loftis asked for OES to be present to visualize his feelings about his best friend. Ret. Capt. Gary Sacha of Tukwilla FD with OES Ziva and his wife, Suzi Sacha, Ret. PD admin. with Freddie were on stage as the symbolism of the "Sheepdog Warrior” who guards the flock (public) is explained. They, along with Linda Zimmerman’s Hudson and Jan McClary’s Spirit were included behind the coffin in the processional of officers into the stadium. I'm very proud of these OES who represented our breed so well today. A beautiful tribute to an outstanding officer who is gone way too soon.
