Another lovely day in Paradise in northern Illinois. Last night it poured buckets of rain--it came down in sheets. Then the wind picked up and the temps dropped. I heard the wind howling all night and today it is still windy and blowing snow. I'm back to wearing my full length down coat.

I'm sick of it.
Right now we are at -2F and the wind chill (we are in a wind advisory) makes it feel like -27F.
The temp wouldn't be so bad, but the wind is just putting it over the edge! It was so windy driving to work this morning that I could hardly hear my radio, driving into it...I was not sure my cruise control would stay on either, it was blowing and then gusting even harder. :(

It was snowing when I was driving home from teaching classes last night, and w/ the wind I could barely see the road. I drove 20mph for part of the way home.

Our HIGH temp today is supposed to be 1F ..... :( :(
Same here in NE WI, right now we're 19 but temps will drop, the wind is pretty strong so we worry about losing the electricity.
We are at 9 right now....windy....wind chill -12....but stopped snowing!!!!
I don't even have it nearly as bad a some of you right now!
It's mid 30's , but snowing like mad. We won't get much out
of this though. All the same, I am really pining for a couple
really warm days... like 60 maybe. I know I shouldn't complain
since we've really been spoiled these last few years with our
mild winters. The older I get, the more I just want the cold to
be over quick! I feel like a shut-in.

-30 c with the windchill this morning plus white out conditions on the road means school is cancelled and I am working from home. Crazy! I agree winter should be done. Good news is that March is just around the corner!
It not just the snow and wind. It rained yesterday and with the ground frozen the water has no place to go so now we have ICE.

Walking on ice is not a sport I want to take up.
Should I rub it in that it's only -6 Celsius here and no wind and really not bad at all?
OK so I am moaning as it is cold in the UK. But by your standards it is practically warm! :wag:
My cousin is driving from Toledo, Ohio to Chicago on Thursday night. Are the roads supposed to be bad? Should she wear serious boots for snow?

She's going to the big dog show at McCormick Place on Saturday with her daughter to check out a few breeds because her daughter is looking for a puppy. She said 9 OES are entered and they're going to check them out! I wish I could go with her...

:clappurple:
The high on Tuesday was almost 70.
Today, it is almost 40. Gotta love changeable weather.
Two hundred miles north, it snowed enough that some schools were closed.
More snow in the forecast for tonight into tomorrow.......... :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
Did see a positive "spring" sight last week though. Male goldfinches' yellow color is starting to show brighter again! Their yellow color fades in the winter. Got excited seeing them at the bird feeder!
Minnie, Chicago is expected to get 3 to 5 inches of snow overnight from Thursday into Friday. Yes, your cousin should wear serious snow boots and be careful on the roads. Driving is always dicier when it's snowing.
when asked about job completion, the contractor said two weeks. 8)

and the sheepies said, oh yeah, spring mud. :yay:
I just got off the phone with a friend who lives in North Dakota near the Canadian border. He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is dropping way below zero and the North wind is increasing to near gale force. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare. He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in...

I thought the same when I first read it. :D
That was good Ron.
I lol'd.
.....time to grab the snowshovel and do the sidewalk & steps..........yippee :headbang:
We got about 5 inches of nice fluffy snow :D :D

It took a bit to get to work, but made it in double the usual commute time.

This is my view at 0630 when I pulled out onto the road....
