Fresno Dog Show OES a no-show

Well, for those of you who may have read my introduction conversations you will know I went to a dog show in Fresno to meet an OES in person for the first time. I knew a no-show was possible with only 2 OES entered but it became reality. We still had fun and watched Rally and Obedience and the herding groups. We met some really nice breeders of Bouvier Des Flandres, Irish Wolfhound and Mastiff. There were alot of shelties and collies, not so many of the others in that group. On the way back we stopped at a llama show to meet some friends exhibiting there so the day was not a lost, just a bit disappointed. Photos and videos will have to suffice until the next show or a visit to a generous and kind OES owner. On to the "pictures" section here for now. :twitch:

Too bad. As one who shows there could be a wide variety of reason for the no-show. Either way it sucks for you to not see any. Certainly there are some forum members close to you. Keep looking!

Vance
There was only 1 class dog entered so no points available there unless the class dog felt like it could beat out the special. Specials sometimes enter more than 1 show at a time & depending on the competition numbers when the judging schedules come out, they will then choose which one to go to. They are generally looking to win & pick up some breed points. Or there could be any other variety of reasons also. Sometimes family emergencies occur. Sometimes older dogs at home get sick. Sometimes the owners or handlers are sick. Sometimes vehicles breakdown. You can't just throw an Old English & all their show gear into just any vehicle  Hopefuly better luck next time a show is in your area. :crossed:
Oh that sux! I can only imagine how disappointed you were. :-(

I hope you do enjoy the photo gallery in the meantime. :D
Thanks Vance and Marilyn - I understand and was prepared if they were no-shows, just bummed it happened. I looked over the upcoming shows and the entries from last year showed only 1-4 at any given show. Makes me rethink possible conformation showing because it would take forever and more travel to finish a dog/bitch at that rate. Unless the breeder doesn't require co-ownership until championship is received, it may not be worthwhile. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the Rally and Obedience trials. Ron - I have been enjoying the pictures! Thanks. Hug your sheepies for me people!!!! :plead: :)
