Panda is "Amazingly Normal".

Those simple words brought joy into my heart as they were spoken by my vet on a phone message. The results came in today from his Geri panel he received yesterday and so when I returned home from work I heard those words.

Panda will be 13 in July and so each day is a blessing. Yesterday, he had "the works" as I often refer to his yearly procedures. He's sedated and everything is checked,.... hips, teeth, eyes, toes, he's shaved and becomes a barenaked sheepie... :D whatever I (and especially others) can't check or touch is done. Yes, admittedly this is going on the 10th year we've had this done. The cost has far outweighed what I've ever spent on Merlin who came from a reputable breeder and except for the one time I found a tic on Merlin's head he's never had the ailments that Panda has had resulting from being born into an unscupulous puppy mill.

Yes, Panda has dysplasia, blind in one eye,had chronic ear infections (or at least he did for the first 5 years he lived with me) and lets not forgot how my amazing loving boy will turn into a quivering frenzied animal in a matter of seconds if he feels he's about to be restrained or harmed in any way- due to living the first three years of his life in a cage.

AMAZINGLY NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!! Those are sweet words and I've been smiling all day as that was the results of all his test yesterday. :yay:

Okay I'm going to hug my grumpy boy now.
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Now I'm going to cross my fingers, eyes and legs that his feline sisters Mama Kat, age 20 and Dusty age 14 will have the same results from their Geri-panels to be done on Saturday. Mama Kat is hyper thyroid and Dusty has chronic URI and while I'll be eating crackers and cheese for the rest of the month - nothing I mean nothing is a priceless as hearing those wonderful words. life is good!

Good job Panda! :clappurple:
Great words to hear no matter what age you are but even sweeter as the years creep by.
Yay panda!!!
Thank you Mim and Annastacia.

I was especially worried about his liver as he's been on meds for his dysplasia for a while now, which is hard on their liver - so "amazingly normal" were great words to hear!

It's amazing how a simple, unassuming word like "normal" can have us dancing with joy.

So glad to hear it! All your TLC is working wonders!

That is wonderful news!!!
I got the same news with Harley, who will be 15 in March. Those meds are hard on them, and each year hearing he has a normal senior blood profile is quite the relief!!
Go hug your nekkid boy!!! :D :D
What absolutely fantastic news! The animals that come to your home certainly hit the jackpot!
Great news! Hugs to Panda!! :ghug:
well done Panda, you are a very brave boy. So lovely to hear he is "normal" xx

Thanks everyone for all kind words!!

Dawn - I'm so happy to hear you've had the same great results with Harley who is 2 yrs older than Panda. Yeah!!! Panda sends paws up to Harley.

Good news as my aged 20 year old cat - Mama Kat had really good results too. She was hovering on being hypothyroid at last years Geri-panel results but now she'll be on those meds for the end of her days. Other than that her results for good for an old girl. Mama Kat was originally named Asia who arrived as a 7 yr old whom had multiple previous litters, a mouth of absessed teeth and very little hair. I swear she was the cat Edgar Allen Poe wrote about and was reincarnated as she was very "testy" in her earlier days. She terrified the dogs (except for Shaggy) who made a wide berth when she passed as she thought nothing of screaching like a Banshee if they came to close to "her babies". They weren't hers but bottle fed motherless kittens I would bring home to foster. Although by this time she was spayed she still took on the role. She was the same way with humans that came to close to her babies shredding human legs until they escaped down the hallway and away from "her" babies. She allowed Shaggy who helped her and myself but anyone else was fair game. It is only this past couple years that Mama Kat allowed the dogs to befriend her (this was due to gentle nature of Gilligan) and eventually the others, of course they love this now gentle soul. After her first vet visit by the SPCA who listed all her ailments she was put on the euthanization list. I mean after all, who'd want that cat? She proved them all wrong as she went on to help many little kittens survive and get a second chance too.

The other one I brought in for test was Dusty, age 14. This old fellow spent two years in shelters - having been transferred several times. Finally he was placed in Petsmart by the SPCA adoption program in hopes more people would see him. No luck as while he's a beautiful grey/white long haired boy no one as interested. He had the tendency to bite if you pet him. Ouch! Not the best way to impress people. I had kept track of him as he was a foster at one time in my home. That last day with no options left, the decision was made from head office - no more chances for Dusty. He was by now 50 miles away from my home but I called the manager and said I was on my way. That was back in 2003 and since that time - Dusty has never bite anyone. I'm thinking he was just a smart cat and just wanted to live out the rest of his days with me. ^@@^

So that's 3 of my Motley Crew of aprox 30 something pets (20 are chickens but they are on the pet list too as they too are special and live peacefully with the dogs, guinea pigs, bunnies and cats) - all wonderful animals who given a second chance turned out to be the most wonderful animals.
Have to say Dusty was one smart cat! Probably MENSA on the cat scale.
Let's face it having fostered with you of course he wanted to come back, he was just smart enough to make it happen. :high5:
