What are your plans for new year's eve?

More than what are your plans, do you stay up to ring in the new year?

I live in NY. I haven't seen the ball drop from Times Square in years!

I am totally boring! I hate to start a new year feeling tired and jaded so I have a glass or two of champagne at around 7pm and I would normally be in bed asleep at midnight.

The last few years I've been awake though as our dalmo has become increasingly frightened of the fireworks and he gets in a frenzy. This year I've been to the vet and we've some sedatives so I'm hoping to sleep through it again. :crossed:
I'll likely just chill at home....I have to be at work by 7am on the 1st!
So wake-up at 5:30am pretty much rules out any partying. :? Maybe if I was younger, but no chance now!
I'll be right here at work. :(

We just found out that our hometown of New Carlisle, OH has it's own Ball Drop! Apparently, this has been going on for several years. We're discussing taking the girls down there but we're not sure yet. I need to hear more about how the crowd has been known to behave...

Early to bed, early to rise to catch the Rose Parade (on TV), champagne and last of the Christmas cookies in hand. Not as many cookies in pervious years, blood sugar you know. If wasted, back to bed. Then start taking down outside lights unless it is freezing cold......which it may be.
I stay in an try to distract the hound and the cats from the fireworks - having the television reasonably loud squashes some of the external bangs.
To bed early so I can get up before dawn to see the sun rise over Lake Michigan. At least that's the theory. Projected temps make it look increasingly likely I'll crowd under the covers and peek at the sun rise from my nice, cosy bed!

:tree: Stay at home together With Joy.
See if she wants to watch the firework together with me?

I can see far a way from my veranda (porch), I see most of Oslo
( Down to the city hall) and the areas around the inner Oslo fjord.
Hope for good weather - and love the Kings speach and the firework. :hearts: :cheer:
As usual, Ziggi and I should be fast asleep by midnight. Not a big new year's fan, but I will be very glad to see 2012 go....not a great year.
We have 3 friends in for New Year's Eve. This year will only be 2 as 1 of the 3 is sick. We don't start until 8PM so that we can stay up until midnight. Just snacks & some drinks....although this year mine will be non-alcohlic since I am on puppy detail yet.
I plan on visiting with Bob in the late afternoon, then stopping for Chinese take-out on the way home. I'll find something boring to watch on tv or maybe read. And be asleep by 10. I'd be happy to go to someone's house for a party or have people over but apparently I have a bunch of boring friends who also don't go out on New Year's Eve.
I am going over to my brother's to have a belated Christmas dinner with him and his family from out of town. I plan on being home early so that the dogs are not in the house by themselves when the fireworks start going off. Happy New Year to everyone!
Well, glad to see I am not the only boring person on New Year's Eve. We are going to our usual local pub for dinner at 7:30 and will be home by nine or so and then be fast asleep probably by 12. I never understood why people go out and party hardy and then are all hung over for the first day of the new year. Not the way I want to start a fresh new year!

Happy New year everyone! I think next year we should plan a little forum party on line for New year's Eve. Be safe everyone!

Same here..
We stay home and reduce the number of idiots on the road by 2.

A few years ago we started the tradition of a labor intensive meal at home for New Years Eve. This year we're having Coq au Vin which we started yesterday (browned the chicken and put it in wine to marinate overnight). Later my wife will make pappardelle to serve it over.

A couple glasses of wine while we cook, a couple more with the meal and we will be asleep by 10:00!
The last few years I have had boring new years eves, and a crappy few years lol  This year my cousin has convinced me to go to her place, with all of our kids (7 between the two of us) who are all adults now, and she's at the liquor store now stocking up. I don't drink often, but I plan on doing a good job :D I may start the new year hungover, but I plan to have fun getting there and maybe 2013 will finally be a better year.

(last time we drank though we decided to try skate boarding and rollerblading.... our kids were embarrassed but we had a blast. Like watching Jackass in real life) :lmt:
We're having a fondue and copious amounts of wine this evening, will probably watch some funny tv or movies, maybe take a walk at midnight with the girls and watch the fireworks, hopefully training them to not be fearful of them. Tomorrow is off and I am counting on the girls allowing me to sleep in until 8 or so. :crossed:

Good for you!

It's going to be too freaking cold here! -30F windchills which don't even sound fun.
Many years ago we had a flat tire after partying, out on the prairie with the cold wind just whipping - I still remember that as just HIDEOUS! ...and I was just the one holding the flashlight. ;)
Joan and I played a couple of games of Scrabble.

How did the fireworks go? Mine weren't afraid but then they got a little scared over time. Just pacing and heavy breathing nothing to crazy. But still breaks my heart to see them upset.
We went tobogganing at 4 am lol It was a blast :)

How fun! Wish we had enough snow for tobogganing.
