I just got a hydrolyc one , wish I had known that before , how great that is
I've never groomed lily on a table. I grab a brush and sit down on the couch. She automatically lays across my lap and takes a nap. I watch tv and groom her. She will lay there for hours and hours.

Is there a reason she should be groomed on a table instead?

Not really if that works for you , great , I prefer a table , easier tp get to all the places , also underneath
Edy is right. Whatever WORKS for you is best.
Most often the dog is more likely to stay put and be relaxed and comfortable on a table
than on the floor or one's lap.

Edy, I knew you were going to love, love, love your new table.

I want a table, keep putting it off because I am not allowed to keep it set up in the living room :(

Dont' you have another place in the house( Laundry room , unused guest room) where you can set it up ?? and if you get a foldable one , you can put it in the garage when not in use

Mine is a foldable one. Or rather 2 of them - a large black one, and a smaller pink one. I keep it set up in a multipurpose room (sewing, toys, crafts, computer). But I wasn't always able to do this. The room was our kids' playroom primarily for years, and then they used the computer for homework, etc. I used to put it up when needed, then fold the legs and put it away (closet or garage) when not.

Seeing some of the room, and it's other uses:

Bond at about 5 months old

And another time - facing one way -

And facing the opposite way, with the table behind me -

Now when I leave it up, it gets used for other things. I have a couple stools that are the height for the taller pink table that work great to use it for an extra table - I take conference calls in there and spread my papers out. Also handy for crafts, now for the grandkids too. They use it for coloring, drawing, gluing, etc.

I love the pink one , now how can I upload a picture here in the txt , so I can show my hydrpolic one
Edy - to upload a picture, there are instructions...but maybe I can wing it here.
1st you need to have the photo in your computer's album.

Go to 'my photos' (on the top header of any page) and click on it, then the red text 'upload file" It will do a search into your computer's photo album and you can upload pictures to here. Once they are in an album here, you highlight the red text below the picture, and copy/paste it into your text when you make a posting here.
Sprocket is our 4th sheepy and I have always groomed them on the floor or on the "kids" toybox when he looks out the window. The kids now being 30-35 but the box stayed in the window for the dogs to see out. I have wondered about a table as I now have 2 prolapsed dics in lower back. What sort of price are they and where would I get one from bearing in mind I can't do online buying and I am in G.B.x

do you use Amazon think you can buy one from there .then there is Petcra you can ask for a catalog and order over the phone ,or Ebay
or one of the champ shows that are coming up we have a few that will be in the south ,
I ordered myself a grooming table form PetEdge.com on Wednesday. I actually phoned the order in. Anyways I was expecting it to arrive the following Wednesday but it arrived from USA to Canada 2 days after I placed my order! I got the blue one. Love it! My OES is a rescue, so I am going to have loads of time to haver her get used to it and getting on it while her hair grows in. I am shaving her form now on because the box store where she used to get groomed ticked me off. It was $65 cheaper to get it from pet edge than from amazon. Even with shipping to Canada and customs it was not as bad as I was expecting $-wise.

Thanks for letting us know. Good to know the website ships to Canada as some US stores don't.

Is it heavy, is it easy to fold up? Could I slide it or carry it without collapsing it?

If I get one it will go in the spare bed room but I would bring it out to the living room to groom Monty. I like to groom in front of the tv and we don't have tv in any room but the living room.
Ideally I'd like one with lockable wheels.

The pink one in my photos is the Petedge one. We've had it 6+ years now. It is lighter than my black one, but I wouldn't call it light. I can carry it just fine though. Because it is awkward to do, I never carry it set up - the ortho nurse I am just cringes at how bad that is for your back! It folds in seconds, so always easier to do. The Petedge site should list the weight in the description specs.
No wheels - in fact I have never seen one with wheels. They are easy to fold and carry, and really not needed. It has gotten hauled all over the country for shows - very portable!

Bond and I getting ready at a show -

And the same table back when Chewie was young -

Good for lounging and break time too - and look how little Bre is in this picture!
Looks good, what size did you get?

Our pink one is 36 x 24. It's pink because my daughter and I bought the bigger black one when she was 13 and we had our 1st OES. (and she's 29 now, and we still have the table - they last!) Then when we got Chewie I "bought her out", and I got her the pink one, as she has Chewie's sister Martha. And she loves pink. :D But then it was more portable than the black one, so I "borrow" it for shows...with my boy dogs! :lmt: At least I can always find it in the grooming areas, and makes a good landmark at shows. :D

I am getting daughter on the case of finding me a table. They don't look very big though,as if the sheepy would fall off. I guess you train them to jump on and off?x

Yes, it's part off their grooming training. My lower one they can jump on, the pink one is taller and they put their front legs up, and then I boost their butts ;)
I NEVER let my dogs jump off. Bad habit, as they think they can bail out on grooming, but also show surfaces in the grooming areas are often shiny cement and they could get hurt. :(

Here are some assorted lounging pictures

Chewie -

Chewie and sister Macy, and all their hair! -

Dawn: "No wheels - in fact I have never seen one with wheels."

I have a grooming table with wheels and do not recommend it. In over 20 years, I have used it as a dolly only two times at shows. The wheels/fixtures add weight, take up space in the car, and give it mobility when unloading on a slanted surface. Better to have bought one without wheels that was longer than 36.5". Live and learn.

Edy's hydraulic table sounds ideal!
It's 37 lbs. Easy to set up. Planning to hide it behind bedroom door. I have small apartment and set it up in the bedroom. My OES got onto bed then table. And off in reverse way. Her first grooming table. First time up, she almost flew off it, as she was excited to get on. Spent a whopping 4 seconds on it the first time. Gonna take time before it becomes a brushing table instead of a wiggly bum scratch table. :) I just got so sick and tired of how the box store was treating her and ME. For the price of two haircuts I bought an andis razor. I know I can do a better job shaving her down in the spring and fall all by myself. I've scissor cut my last 2 sheepdogs. Very happy with petedge.com and my blue table.

Forgot to mention I bought the 48x24x30 table. Thought it was going to be too big until I got my girl up on it, then decided I bought the right size. Home use only. :)
