| Lucy has held pills in her mouth for up to 30 minutes before spitting them out. I'll find them all soggy and coming apart way after I try to give it to her. Obviously the bad taste isn't what makes her spit it out because she keeps it in her mouth for a long time. The only thing I can figure out is that she knows the pill comes wrapped in cheese every time she gets it... |
| Sometimes I think they are smarter than we are. If treats are involved they always find a way to beat the system...not much of a system since the treats flow pretty freely at my house. |
| Our first sheepdog Prince adored his heartworm medicine.
Back then, it was a capsule not a chewable tab. We followed the vets instructions to a t, placed the capsule in the side of his mouth,closed his mouth and gently held the mouth closed while stroking under the chin. His eyes would get big as saucers, then a big swallow-success! As we stepped away, the capsule now a speeding rocket would fly by us and hit the wall. We tried everything to hide that capsule, but our clever guy would find it everytime! I am so grateful for chewable tablets !!!!!!!!! |
