Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that Beau is sleeping through the night. I decided to let him out of his crate at night. It's been 3 nights now and no mishaps. He only chews on his many chew toys and chew bones. No potty problems either. Very Happy

Needless to say: We're all getting a good nights sleep Laughing

Karen and Beaumont
Congrats! Good for you big boy Beau!

Yay Beau! Smile ClappingPurple
Soon, you'll get puppy fever and think you'll need to do it all again though...lol...
Yay, Beau! Isn't that the best feeling? I never thought I'd get to sleep in again for awhile! ClappingPurple
Hurrah for Beau! What a big boy you are now Very Happy
To celebrate we went to Petco and got a new chew bone. Beau also got the hair in his ears plucked out. He wasn't liking that at all. Crying or Very sad It took 2 girls to hold him down and another to pluck. Ouch!!!!

Then, we went to Petsmart and got some treats. Smile

It's so nice to be able to sleep all night. He's been such a good puppy. He stays in the yard with me and doesn't wonder off. He comes when I call him. And now: He sleeps all night. He'll be 7 months old on the 22nd of this month.
When are OES considered "full grown?"

When they take up more of the couch than you do Wink

Aren't they supposed to grow until 18 months? If Clyde keeps growing for another 9 months he ought to be about 200 pounds at the rate he's been going!
Hendrix is 5 months as of yesterday and about 50 lbs. What would you say the average is for a male?
Clyde is nine months and 76 pounds (according to the scale yesterday) but he's been slowing down. For awhile it seemed like he was growing about 3 pounds a week until he was about 6 months. Hendrix sounds like he's on the Clyde track!

I think a lot of it depends on the parents and a lot of people's dogs vary a lot anyway. I think just on our forum we have full grown dogs that range from low 50 pounds to over 100. I think I asked the same question a while back in another thread...

Yup, I did. Here it is: http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=2935

Hope that helps!

As soon as it's easier to curl up in bed than move them to the side. Laughing
They generally stop growing taller around 18 months give or take. They won't really fill out, drop their chest and get really thick muscled until between 2 and 3 years old. Also depends on if he is neutered or not. Carl wasn't neutered until he was just over 2 years old. He had seemed very stringy, for lack of a better word, but the vet assured us that that was because he was still young, crazy and "intact". It seemed like within days of being neutered he got a little thicker.

Also, these dogs stay very much puppies for a long time. Most dogs will get their adult mentalites about 18 months of age. OES tend to go through their teens years at about 2 years. (Think the terrible 2's of children!) They mature a little more at 3 years but will pretty much forever be a clown. At 12 years old, Norman is still a total dork! He rolls and rolls and then stops with his hair totally messed up and looks just like he's laughing!

Make sure you are patient with both mental and physcial growth. Their muscles grow much slower than their joints and their brains are who knows where for a long, long time.
Thanks for all the insight! You guys are always helpful!
