Boy I feel for all of you who are having trouble house breaking your new friends. When I got Max he was only 12 weeks old he is now 5 months old and we haven’t had an accident in the house in going on 5 weeks. He barks when he has to go out and we take him out he does his thing and we bring him back in. Now I will tell all of you Newbie’s a Crate makes all the difference if you’re going to train your dog, and the training goes way beyond just house breaking them. The first week that Max was with us was a week of pure hell, and then when I got the crate it all seemed to just come together. I will say this much we are self employed with a nighttime work schedule so we are home all day long, you have to be home and very diligent and consistent about the house training. We also picked up a $170.00 electronic collar and have utilized it not only in the home but outside also. Now some of you may think of that as inhuman but if it is used right it will make a world of difference in your puppy’s behaviors. Believe me Old English Sheep Dogs are the most head strong dogs I have ever known and the extra persuasion really does help. At 5 months Max has become the best dog me and the wife has ever had, he’s a perfect gentleman and very well mannered. And an extreme pleasure to have in our home.  |
