Pepsi

I am re-posting this from fb.
Pepsi's Mommy wrote:
Yesterday had to have been one of the hardest days of our life together for Billy and I.
We had to say goodbye to our beloved Old English Sheepdog, Pepsi, our faithful companion of 8 years and my baby boy who had been healthy as a horse until last Tuesday night, when he threw up his food. We thought was an upset stomach. It was nothing new for him to throw up his food, especially if he ate too fast. That happened on and off.

He didn't want to eat on Wednesday, but I got him to eat some Pumpkin and rice. Thursday he ate a handful of Ginger Snaps and one small bite of rice. Friday night, when he flat out refuse all food and I was very concerned. We brought him to the Vet, Saturday and was he was diagnosed with Kidney Failure.

The Vet went way up and beyond with his treatment. But it didn't help. :( Pepsi was losing his battle quickly. The Vet recommended we put him down. We took the kids and all went down to say our goodbyes. I wanted to have his family around him one more time to show him how much we love him.

He was already dying, when we got there. He didn't even resemble the dog we left there on Saturday. Billy had to leave and took the kids out, but I stayed until after he passed away. I talked to him and told him that I love him too much to see him this way. There were a few things he needed to know. Or maybe just a few things I needed to say. I promised him I would never leave him again and would be by his side until the end. And told him he better stay with me in spirit. When I told him it was okay to lay down and rest, it was okay to let go.

When he did lay down his nose started bleeding, his breath got more labored and I knew it was only a matter of time before he dies. He may have survived an hour or two, but after seeing him get worse I called in the Vet and said it's time.

We will miss him everyday! He brought such joy to our family, he was one in a million! The Best dog we have ever had. He was still a puppy when we got him, between 8-10 months when we rescued him for the local pound.

He never chewed anything but his toys, never destroyed anything.

Elissa I'm so sorry for your loss.

Run free at the bridge Pepsi .

Hugs to you and your family :ghug: :ghug:
So sorry for your loss. Loved reading your stories about Pepsi when I first brought home London in 2005.
:(:(
:ghug:

I am so sorry for your loss. We all know how difficult it is and we have all been there at some point so please know that we all are grieving with you.
He obviously was so very loved!

I am so sorry for your loss. We are never ready for that final goodbye. They filled our souls with happiness and leave our hearts with a big hole. But they never leave us completely. I learned this with Pooh Bear. People may think I may be losing it, but he has sent me signs in the year he has gone. Some big, some very subtle that only I would know and feel, but they were there. Keep your heart open to them. I haven't had one in a few months and miss those little signs.
Once again, very sorry about Pepsi. I'm sure Pooh Bear and the others were waiting for him at the Bridge to welcome him. :hearts:
:ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
So very sorry for your loss. Run free sweet Pepsi.
I am so sorry..As I try to type through my tears.....I know what you are going through and with the forum's support and compassion we will all help you through this sad time.
Thank you for sharing stories of Pepsi. He was one of my favorite sheepies...

Take comfort that he will be running and playing with Pearl, Coz and all of the rest of the sheepies and sheepies wanna be's as he waits for you at Rainbow Bridge.

Like Pearl, Pepsi is in your heart and soul and will always be a part of what you are because of his unconditional love and his clownish personality.... again...sorry is such a hollow word for what I feel for you, but you know we are all here....

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
So sorry  Hugs xx
Elissa,

I am so sad for your loss of Pepsi and so devastated by how fast and unexpected it was. Pepsi has been one of the founding sheepies in our community, and new stories about him and new great pictures will be missed, but his memory and your writings will continue on here forever.

We all stand with you and your whole family during this difficult time.
I'm so sorry E! There are no words to say but may the really great memories you have of your boy give you and your sweet family comfort.

:ghug:

If you need to talk...or not...I understand.

M
Elissa and Billy:
Our deepest sympathies to you both and all your family. We always loved hearing about your handsome boy and we thought it would be great if one day he could meet our grandfurbaby Soda Pop! Pepsi will be missed by all of us. :(
May your wonderful memories of your sweet boy, comfort you during this very difficult time.
Barbara, Oakley, Sydney, Soda Pop and R. Kingsley
    My heart is breaking for you. Sorry for your loss.  :hearts: :hearts: :ghug:
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear Pepsi. It still really hurts when I look around the house after having lost my sweet Wendel only five months ago.

:ghug: :ghug:
I'm so sorry for your loss. :( :( :( :ghug:
I was so scared when you told me his symptoms and the diagnosis. When I first joined here I lost my Winston the same way. It took almost the same amount of time to run its course too. I was so hoping for a different outcome but it was not to be. Pepsi was a lovely boy and he will be deeply missed. Even his sister Rags seems to be missing him. He is safe now. :ghug:
Elissa, i just cant even express words that would even make an ounce of sense. as the year date for panda looms around the corner, pepsi's passing is just an added emotional loss....he was panda's first sheepie playmate. you were the first sheepie friend that i met in person. pepsi will ALWAYS carry a special place in my heart....love you...xo, me
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Pepsi. When I saw your posting this morning on FB I was stund. You and Pepsi were already members when I joined this wonderful community back in 2006. I love hearing the stories of Pepsi, Rags and eventually Lacey. Each of your animals have found a special place in my heart and I am going miss Pepsi. :hearts: I'm glad you were able to be with him as he left for the Rainbow Bridge as hard as I know it was on you. Peace and strength to you and your family during your time of grief. Run free sweet sheepie boy!
So sorry for all those who loved Pepsi...so glad for the love and life Pepsi shared with you all. :ghug: :ghug:
:ghug: :ghug: :ghug: I am so, so terribly sorry. :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
Like Darcy, Pepsi's loss hits me hard too... we all seemed to know him so well, and have enjoyed hearing about him and you and your family through the years. Seeing the pics of you with him at the end made me so sad for your loss but also reminded me of Dancer and Tucker.... it's so hard to let them go, especially when it's just too soon. :(
Oh my gosh.. I'm so sorry :( I could barely get through what you wrote... I can't imagine the pain you guys are feeling ....and I feel horrible you guys had to make this decision esp so suddenly. I'm glad Pepsi is no longer in pain and will always be there in spirit. :(
I am so sorry. This is really awful and unexpected. Your beautiful boy had a wonderful but too short life. :( :hearts: :(
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Losing pets is a loss of a family member and it is really rough especially when it seems too soon.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

As difficult as this has been, I'm so glad you were able to comfort him to the end.

Hugs to you and all your family. :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
What you wrote was so sad and so beautiful. So sorry for your loss, I know words cannot take away the pain, but we are thinking of you!
I am so so sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking to lose our babies. :ghug: to you all from Debs, Geoff and Cloud
Elissa. I am so very sorry. I have read the post through tears and my thoughts are with you and your family.

There is no harder decision to make, and we all dread the day.

Take strength from happy memories of Pepsi and know that there is no pain for him now.

Take care and know that everyone is thinking of you.

Love to you all.
Xxxxxx
hated seeing this post so very sorry
Elissa and Billy, I am so very, very sorry for your tragic loss of Pepsi at such a young age and with virtually no warning.

He was such a sweet boy and I always enjoyed your stories and pictures. For awhile there will be a hole in your heart, then the hole will be filled with his precious memories and he will be with you forever. He is now your family's special guardian sheepie angel - he will never leave you.

Thinking of you as you grieve. :ghug: :ghug:
I am so very very sorry, I am typing through tears there is nothing I can say to help ease the heartache, but he will always be with you. Pepsi is now free from pain and with our sheepie angels over the Rainbow Bridge...hugs xxx
I am so sorry for your loss. Such a sudden and unexpected end to Pepsi's short life. I'm shedding tears for your family and for Pepsi. Having lost my Elliott, a healthy 7 yr. old male OES quite suddenly & unexpectedly - one who I thought would be with me for many, many more years, I know something of the depth of pain you are experiencing. Thank you for being there with Pepsi at the end. I am sure he knew and was grateful for your help through the transition. I'm crying for the loss of your sweet, dear boy Pepsi. Life is not fair. We all send our love and hugs to your family and mourn your loss with you.

Sincerely,
Linda Zimmerman & Hudson, Chloe, Kristy & Angel
 So very sad. Though we haven't heard from you much lately, but I quite often have thought of Pepsi.........I've catagorized as Palm Springs Pepsi, though I know you don't live in PS, just near by. His passing is sad, he has been such as great dog for you and the family. I wish they could all just pass in their sleep not have to endure pain or illness at the end. Good by Pepsi, you have been a great dog!
Oh so sorry! Wow reading that brought tears. My thoughts and prayers to the whole family.
I am so sorry.
I am so sorry to hear this. No matter what they age, it is so hard to let them go. May happy memories soon replace your pain. Pepsi would want it to be that way. :ghug:
So, so very sorry. No words. :ghug:
Farewell Pepsi :hearts: :hearts:

Our hearts are with your family :ghug:

You were a wonderful companion to them, and you will be missed :ghug: :ghug:
So very very sorry for the loss of your sweet Pepsi. Special thoughts for you and your family during this difficult time. :ghug: :ghug:
Thank you all for your kind words, I would love to respond to each individual post, but right now, I am just mentally and physically exhausted. But thank you! Your comments and :hearts: of my Pepsi means the world to me!
I so sorry for your loss. I could hardly finish reading your post either.
Wishing you happy memories and a peaceful heart. God bless you all and your Pepsi.
Losing Pepsi is sad beyond words and I'm so, so sorry to hear of his passing. He'll be with you in spirit forever and you'll feel his presence in all the places he enjoyed being. :hearts:

Hugs to you, Elissa. Most of us have been where you are and it's never easy.
:ghug:
I'm so very sorry to read that Pepsi has gone to the bridge. :ghug:

When I first joined the forum, he became one of the first dogs that I "knew". From his cute name to all the adventures, it became routine to look for your posts. Thank you for sharing him.

Wishing you comfort to ease some of the pain now. The heart never forgets.
:ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
I'm so, so sorry :( thinking of you, sending lots of love your way :ghug:
I am so sorry for your loss. I sit here crying as I read the posts. Most of us know how difficult it is to lose one of our babies. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:

Oh Elissa, I'm so sorry. Pepsi was such a sweet dog. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Elissa and Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I felt like I knew Pepsi as if he lived next door. I'm so glad I had a chance to meet him in person years ago. I wish he didn't leave so soon. He was such a special wonderful boy. He was so happy that you found him as a puppy and he enjoyed so many wonderful years with you. RIP Pepsi. :hearts:
 I'm so sorry for your loss of Pepsi.

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug:

Cindy
I am so sorry!
Elissa and billy and the kids, absolutely heart broken to hear the news of Pepsi, he always had an enormous special place in my heart and even though I live on the other side of the world, one very special man touched my life as well.

I cant fathom what you all are going through, I hope rags is OK after loosing her best buddy too.

Just take solace in knowing where-ever pepsi is they never leave us, they might in body but they hover over us keeping a watchfull eye and presence for the rest of our lives. :ghug:

God speed Pepsi, you touched my heart many years ago and your family too. :ghug:
Thanks everyone. I just feel empty, the days have been a complete blur, my eyes have been so swollen form crying that I looked like I got into a fight with Rocky Balboa. He was my baby boy, I couldn't have loved him anymore if I had given birth to him... well he treated me much better than my kids do most of the time. He was my protector. He was my best friend. When I was having a bad day, he was always there to snuggle and he always knew when I needed him. When my Brother in Law passed away he sat with me for hours and licked my tears away. He saw things most dogs don't notice. He loved watching the sky and watching planes fly over. He loved playing ball, hanging in the pool and playing the game he made up to calm himself when he would get annoyed when the kids would leave the step area and he would get nervous.
He loved when we would get company, as he thought everyone who passed through the front door was here especially to see him.
I appreciate all your messages. We have all mourned the loss of many Forum Sheepies and Non Sheepie Siblings over the years who have all touched our hearts. May they all be having a blast together at the Rainbow Bridge, until we met again.
This is why we love this breed and why our hearts are shattered when they leave. :hearts:
It's been 5 years today and I still am missing him like crazy.
 :hearts:
Big hugs . I am a newbie on this forum, but know loss. You never forget, and never stop missing. So, big huge, hugs!
:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
:ghug:
Thank you! And today is the 1st anniversary of losing our girl Rags.
Anniversaries suck!
