What is this world coming to??

My friend was walking her 3 small dogs, as she does every morning at squaw peak mountain preserve. 2 of the girls are on leash and chloe, off leash.

you see, chloe is a 3 legged chiauau mix. a whole whopping 11 lbs. rescued and completely adored by jodie.

while walking, 2 people came up from behind, started yelling at jodie that it was against the law to have a dog off leash. jodie said that chloe doesnt go anywhere...chloe went up to the people for a friendly sniff and they started beating her with their walking sticks.

Jodie, screaming and calling for chloe made a move to get her and the people then threatened to beat the other dogs and her if she came any closer. They then started calling her a rich bitch and 1% of the elite (jodie works 4 friggin jobs to support herself)...these people were beyond mean and evil...

long and short, chloe ran off. jodie has been searching all morning. she is frantic. the preserve has mountain lions and coyotes. yes, even in urban phoenix. i am so upset. who the HELL would do this???

she called the police, but by the time they got there, those people were gone. on those trail, a man was shot and killed a few years ago by someone who thought his dog was attacking...but i dont think a pocket size dog was a threat to anyone...

im just sick..

OMG! 8O That is AWFUL. To even think of hitting a tiny three legged dog, that is just so horrid. UGH. I hope Jodie is able to find the poor pup, and I hope something very bad happens to the people who did this to her!!!!!
There are real AH's in this world. 3 legged or not, she should have been on a leash for two reasons: one to protect her from above AH's and second, the coyotes, foxes, etc that will grab and run with something these sense as being free for the taking. With a leash you have a chance of snatching them back if taken.

I too had such an AH for a neighbor. He was walking by and Paige ran out, rolled on her back in front of him............a real dangerous position right? The AH started beating her. (you know I wanted to beat him) I didn't shed a tear when he died a few years later.

I hope Chloe is found!!! :crossed:
OMG!! How tragic!! I hope she finds Chloe safe and just scared.
That reminds me, I was walking around the neighborhood trying to find the owners of this cat that showed up at my house, and the dogs were in the backyard, barking because I was walking down the street without them. So I was about to ask this lady who lives just a little down the road from me, and she yells at me "WHY DO THEY BARK ALL THE TIME?!" I apologized and said we were working on that (I did try to shush them and they only bark when something interesting is around, like a squirrel). So she yelled at me that I need to put a muzzle on them before I let them out 8O I said I'd think about it and asked her if she had any cats that might be missing and she said "NO, I HATE CATS." and slammed her door. So, if anything bad mysteriously happens to my dogs, I have a good idea of who's going to do it! I feel like I need to stay outside with the dogs when I let them out because I can't see the yard or that lady's house from inside.
susan, i agree with you regarding predators, but you just dont think that on a sunny beautiful day, walking your 3 best friends, that the predators would be human (and thats being nice)...
I'm sick just from reading this. That poor dog ...I hope its okay :(
I hope she finds her way home soon.
Oh I'm just sick. Poor puppy. Poor Jodie. Prayers Chloe's safe return!!! :plead: :plead:
That is awful. Some people really over react at totally unnecessary things. They could have been much kinder about expressing their opinion; they obviously have no compassion for dogs or people to treat the dog and your friend that way.
I really hope they find her save and sound.
That's one sad story with a tragic ending. Hope Chloe is found quickly.
:ghug: :ghug:
chloe is still missing....she has posted on fb, craigslist, fliers in the nearest neighborhoods, humaine society and az aspca....anything else she can do????? ideas???
There are all kinds of people and there is no doubt that some are not the sharpest knives in the drawer! I live in a small town of 1200 people. When Pooh Bear was just a pup. We were training him to stay around the house. One of the places he would be tied up to was a tree that had a long leash on it. (the tree is right in front of the house and we always were nearby) One day, i happened to just let him into the house after being out by the tree for a short time and someone was walking a pit bull and a rottweiller past the house off leash. I just about died since they would have gone near Pooh. We do have a leash law, and I have no clue who these people were, especially since they banned these two breeds from ownership within the village. (yes, we do have some very closed minded people making the laws since I know not all these dogs are bad.)
Hope Chloe is found soon.
I hope Chloe is found.
Only thing I can think of is going back to the area with her favorite treats and walking from the car park (assuming they drove there) along the trail calling and whistling with the treats in hand.
I try it because both times Rastus escaped during a thunderstorm he didn't actually go all the far but he was hiding in the back yard of houses without a front fence and didn't come out when I went past calling him.
I'd go really slowly to give the poor scared girl time to come out.
Chloe was found late last night, curled up on someone's lawn chair. They called Jodie this morning off of one of her flyers. Bruised but both are happy to be reunited :hearts:
Great news, glad everyone is back together. I sure it was a sleepless night for Jodie.
Yeah happy ending!!
:cheer: YAY! :cheer:
Thank goodness :excited: that is a relieve.
Yaaaaay! So happy they are back together :D

Glad she was found safely :phew:

I can't believe the stories of dogs being beaten like that    If someone hit my dogs, I'd be arrested, because someone would be dead.
:hearts: :hearts: HAPPY TEARS HAPPY TEARS HAPPY TEARS :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :yay: :yay: :yay: I would certainly find another place to walk AND l would notify the authorties and media. What is to stop those AH'S from bringing weapons? So happy Chloe is ok but maybe a little traumatized.
