Christmas present to yourself?

My friend Jeanne asked me "what are you buying yourself for Christmas?" I'm sure she expected me to say jewelry or a cashmere sweater or some luxury. I replied, perfectly serious "a new water heater." Yep, to me from me.

I bought tires in the fall, now a water heater. Who says I don't treat myself well?

We got a new roof on the garage and a new water line to the barn. Oh joy!
I beg my family members not to buy me anything. I so rather buy something myself and it would be something like that... new stone for the flower bed, a new trashcan of my choice, etc, etc. haha

This year I keep telling my husband that I need a new light fixture for the dining room. He's constantly trying to convince me I don't need it since the one we have is new. Whose Christmas gift is this anyway? Pfft..
You are one lucky girl, you really shouldn't spoil yourself like that
I think it is a very smart gift, think of the many hot showers in your future, aaaaah.
How'd the TV purchase go?
Or maybe it didn't?
We bought a portable Dish TV unit this year, last year it was the portable generator.
We can take the kitchen TV to the tailgates, plug in a computer for last minute updates. We have a big canopy tent, camping tables, several portable grills and stoves, games. Next we need a trailer to haul it in. If we do, I to install a camper's bathroom - I hate port-a-pottys.
I don't exactly buy things for myself, but I very specifically tell Jacob what I want, so it's kind of like getting myself something!
I got myself a new phone already!

I'm hoping I will get a dock from me and maybe a wireless keyboard and mouse for it for me; Other people are using this thing as their home computer and we think that we could do the same. :D

Oh no, I may have just spoiled my own surprise... don't read this Ron!!!
New roof for us... Merry Christmas.

Mark, I never got the tv. Tires and a water heater take precedence. Maybe a tv during the January sales.... :lmt:
Does a generator count?? We bought it, just have to decide if that's our present to each other!!
We keep meaning to get a generator, we need one living here!!! ...but keep putting it off because they're so expensive.

I got Mr. J a 22' ladder for Christmas (which he already know I planned on getting) but since it's a "gift" ...I don't turn on the high ceiling lights at night or the outside ones PURELY because I'm afraid he's going to tell me he needs it "now" and then he has no gift to open on Christmas
Chris, we bought ourselves a small generator last year for Christmas. It was out present to each other. Honda EU2000i, a small one, just for tailgating. We actually bought it through an RV accessory company and got a couple hundred off the price. Great choice, very quiet, though very heavy.

This year, we are giving each other a redbud tree. Though I would like a GoPro Hero3 Black...
Heck, I haven't even figured out what I want for my birthday!
We got new floors throughout the whole house and are in the process of fixing some of the drywall in the basement and part of the ceiling down there..we have been re-doing this house for 3 years so anything we do is like and exciting gift as all of the small stuff is done and a lot of big expensive projects remain.

Oh and more importantly a Sheepie; I told my husband he didn't have to buy me a birthday, anniversary, valentines or Christmas present if he let me get a sheepie; he was supposed to pick our next dog as I picked the last 2 pets; he really wanted a St. Bernard.... I gave him the name of the OES breeder I had spoken to and left it up to him (with constant reminders, hints, stories about how wonderful my previous sheepie had been and semi-weekly emails of youtube links to sheepie videos). Eventually he got onto a waiting list for a puppy, having never met an OES in person. Given that the puppy is currently passed out , drooling on my feet (and on the pretty new floors) I am guessing Christmas came early this year:)

Best. Presents. Ever. :santa:

Afterthought: maybe I should put a bow on Leonard's collar for Christmas so he looks the part of a Christmas gift.

I hear you, since we share a birthday! I really don't want anything except for my kids to be home for Thanksgiving. So hard that they live 250 miles away.

As for our generator - it's a biggun!! 8000 watts of BEAUTIFUL power - we will never live thru a 5 day power outage again! Of course, we may go broke keeping it gassed up, but - we won't be cold, or hot, or have to use pool water to fill the toilets, or lose any food from the fridge or freezer. Well worth the investment!
New landscaping. And surprises. :santa:

Ha - I thought of you too Chris when I posted that! 8)

And I still have no idea.
Nicely, all my grown kids and grandkids only live 5 miles away. Mine are stopping in at various times...Todd and I are just going to be home with our fabulous food all day. Kind of a different approach, but seeing they need to work it all out with their spouses other side, we make it doable.

Oh, and did I mention son Travis is now engaged??? 8O
He and his GF Lindsey just got engaged a couple weeks ago...and we love her. :cheer:
She is the cousin of Luke, one of his best friends since grade school. She came down here for grad school...Luke was supposed to introduce her to his friends..... and the rest is history. :lmt:
:x :x I'm having an exterminator out this Wednesday. I have MICE!!! I was trapping and releasing (just 3). Since they didn't appreciate my kindness, I'm going for blood! The last straw was I picked up Oliver's kong, put peanut butter in with the knife, thought I saw a hunk of hair or paper. It moved! Up came a face. I screamed, trapped it in a box and a cup and threw it outside!!!
HO HO HO!!! Now you're DEAD! :phew:
Never never ever had mice in all the years I have lived there. :x
Last year I found a beautiful shed on wheels (custom made on a trailor hitch) and I contacted the seller on Craigs List and he even delivered it! I told Kaj I found my Christmas present and he kept insisting I can't get a shed for Christmas..I should have shoes, chocolates...nope I wanted that shed for my rescue chickens. Of course you know who got their wish. Heck, I even paid for it. LOL
I even have bragging rights that no other person has a shed like this one for their chickens and it matches the yard decor...so life is good! This year I really want a new Mitre Saw and will probably buy it myself as now that I have that contractors card I get up to 30% discounts!..lol
