Daily face washes arent helping!

Bloo is ALWAYS dirty. His feet and face get so mucky it is unbelievable. His feet are fine as they dry and i just comb them out, but his face...

All the fur on his muzzle is literally black/brown colour and is matted really bad. I try and pick them out with the comb but i cant without yanking his eyes :( Half the hair is stuck together as its so yukky.
I have been washing the face everyday, and conditioning and ccombing out, it has been working, but its back to normal by night time, i really dont know why i bother.
I have one of them micro fibre towels which gets so much dirt off his face its great, but it doesnt help de matt it.
Even when i do manage to get it clean its still stained brown!

Seriously, i wish i had a sheepie like all yours, that never gets dirty. Bloo is NEVER clean, even after a bath and groom give him an hour and he will be black again. I just dont get it. It is just bloo, everyone elses sheepies are clean!!! Its soooo annoying.

Sprocket is the same-always mucky. He spends his days in+out the house. Whlst I'm in the workshop he stays out with me. Dougal his litter brother is much cleaner but then he stays indoors more and isn't taken around muddy fields. I find face wash daily keeps on top of it.x
I had to clip parts of Eevee's beard and face fur off because it was too knotted to try to get it out, cause I didn't wanna pull her face. I clipped underneath the top layer on her face so you can't really tell there's anything missing.
hey my boys are sooooooo dirty they will never see a white face lol
As your not showing him now be a bit sneaky
Take a section of his nose hair and lift it up. Then get some thinning scissors and thin out underneath. You will end up with a full looking face but with half the hair to cope with. You need to do it every 4-8 week's.
Thinning scissors are great for cutting through Matt's too just chop the matt in 2-3 places then brush and comb out, it doesn't leave a hole like scissors do.
Great idea for keeping his face clean!! You know the feeding bags that horses have that go over their heads lol
I'd sit outside with a water pistol and when he digs shoot him!
I feel for you, the disadvantage of being in the UK is the wet and mud.
It is easier for us in dry locations that is probably why some dogs chins are whiter than others. I rarely wipe Monty's face, the snow does it and it is very dry here in the summer. Only two or three months of the year does it rain which I dred as it is much more effort to keep him clean.
He doesn't have a perfectly white chin as I can't be bothered to whiten it.
Sam, I know you always remark about how clean Caitlyn's face is but the truth is, I just don't post photos of Caity with a mucky muzzle. Trust me, she knows how to get dirty as Zoey has thought her well!

I've been told that if you give your Sheepie one regular strength Tums, (a stomach antacid over here), it will reduce the enzymes in the dog's saliva which will reduce the brown staining. I've resisted doing this and just keep up on her whitening shampooing. Give this a shot.

Sam, just use some fairy liquid to wash his mush, (mix it up with water in a squirty bottle) it will be clean once no colour (dirt) comes off on a white or light coloured towel it is as clean as it will be as the rest of the brown colouring is as pointed out above acid staining.
sheepies always have mucky faces! I do Summers chops with baby wipes! :wag: :wag:

I would thin it out but the matts are rock solid underneath, its gross under there. Poor bloos not going to have any eyes left when im finished lol
I will keep washing and washing. Its so wet and raining and foggy and damp, i dry it but it gets mucky again.

Bwahaha - you've clearly never met Becky and Luna. Oh, wait, right, because I only post pictures of them five minutes after I bathed them  And, come to think of it, not here, but on facebook. They're pigs as well. I totally feel your pain. You've gotten some really good advice though.

heat up some white vinegar & put some bi carbonate soda in a pot mix up in a paste & put around dirty place ( His dirty chops ) leave on for 30 mins or longer & then wash off. make sue the paste is warm but not too hot
