potty in crate

Okay, we seem to have a dog that thinks it's fine to pee (then drink it) and poop (then eat it) in her crate. she is 11 months old now and this still happens. Today I was at work and my wife was home. In a 12 hour period my wife took her out 8 times and still had to bath her 4 times because she peed in her crate 4 times.

We have limited her water intake/times, we have tried keeping her on a tight schedule and nothing seems to help. It like she will do fine for about a week then we will have a couple of days like today. We have had her checked for UTIs and that is not the problem.

We are almost to the point of looking for her a new home and we are heart broken over it. Any help, PLEASE

What struck me first is in the twelve hour period she peed in her crate four times. How much time does she spend in the crate?

It sounds like, and I'm not being mean or judgmental, but she spends alot of time in her crate. Is she drinking and eating the poo out of boredom? She needs space and lots of exercise. Being a youngster she has lots of excess energy and she needs an outlet.

I've never had a dog that drinks pee but I've had poo eaters...YUCK! The trick to stop that is easy. You get to the poo first, right after it drops, be right there and pick it up.

My favorite story is Simon and housebreaking him. This dog could pee up a storm...in the house. We took him out every hour and he would go, but come back in and in a short time pee a lake again. We finally resorted to taking him out every fifteen minutes, and yes he would go. It took a few days of doing this when suddenly a light bulb went off and he realized what we wanted. He went from peeing a lake in the house to no more "accidents" in the space of a few days.

If your dog can go for a week without an accident, she's well on her way. I'm wondering why the backslides though. Again, not being mean, but is she spending too much time in a crate?
I guess we need to take a hard look at that. Thanks for the suggestion. We really love her and hope something clicks here.

Thanks
One thing to add: it's been months since she had an accident in the house. This is just in her crate.
