Close-up phot of Chewie carting

We started our carting season on Monday! Time to get these dogs conditioned for mushing (dog sledding) this winter. :D :D

Donaven got some photos of the team approaching, and sent me this one of Chewie isolated from the team. He's out in lead, coupled to his buddy Gabby....

As you can see, he just LOVES doing this. :cheer:

No carting/sledding for Bond this year. He has to stay all pretty to be a show dog.
In full coat he would get too hot anyway, in fact it would be an overheating risk as the harness holds the hair down and he wouldn't get any air circulation. But he will get his day eventually, and I'm pretty sure he will love it. :D

Last year when he was a fluffy puppy, he rode along in the van. This year I have to leave him home, as it would be torture to have him watch them get all hyped and run, while he had to stay in the van. :(
Great action shot of your special guy! An expression of pure joy on his face!
Dawn,
Wayne asked "Why do you think Chewie loves carting so much?"

Honestly, I have no idea. He is a pretty calm dog and isn't crazy with run, run,run energy. He does love a job. He loves to do stuff with me.
He is energetic, but very serious about this, as he never pees or poops in harness. Today we went 4.5 miles, and he waited until I unhooked him to go. (Biscuit the lab just poops on the fly :cow: )
He also ignores all the other dogs on the team, just is so focused on leading the team.
When I hook him up, he goes into a hyper mode I don't normally see - he barks, whines and quivers with excitement. :excited: It's like it's his adrenalin junky sport!
Maybe he was a husky in a past life.
The barking, whining and quivering is Tiggy when she's sees other dogs or sheep running. She's a chase junky.
