Shampoo?

Dumb question...........what shampoo does everyone use for their dogs?

I use several different ones. I use Pure Paws Ultra Brightening shampoo on the whites of my dogs & any show dogs. I use Pure Paws Volumizing shampoo on the darks of the same. For other dogs I generally use a mixture of Bio-Groom Econogroom mixed with Clairol Shimmer Lights on the entire body. Proper dilution is the key as well as making sure the area you are working on is very well wetted down.
I like Vetrinarians Best for sensitive & itchy skin as well as BioGroom Oatmeal. Since I am fragrance sensitive I like these. Not an overpowering scent and they do a great job on the coat and skin. I have also use Paul Mitchell whitening shampoo on the white parts. Yes, Paul Mitchell makes a line of pet shampoos. Nice lite fragrances.

I used John Paul brightening on his whites and tropiclean on the dark parts. I used tropiclean for Ru and Kong cream conditioner to soften up his wiry coat. I stopped using the John Paul whitening because I found tropiclean made a whitening shampoo that worked better. I also use baking soda mixed with a little lemon juice before shampoo on my sheepie's beard and front paws to keep them white and smelling fresh. He loves bath time!
I really like head n shoulders for shampoo

...and I REALLY REALLY REALLY see a difference using a heavy conditioner compared to normal one, so I use my redken all soft heavy cream which is what I use when my hair is dry. Goes from smelling good for a few days to using this and smelling good much longer :)

I used to be a strong advocate of the whole "dog shampoo is a different ph balance than human" etc... but many of the show people I talk to use normal human shampoo, I never see any side effects, my dog has good skin so...... I stopped going out of my way to buy it.

We also have a medicated shampoo (mr. j always insists we buy it) though for dogs but I see no difference... So it's just sat there and I keep that bottle so when my husband washes the dog (so rare now) ...he has it.
I just love my Tropiclean shampoo. It's now my basic "go to" everyday shampoo.
There are others for special purposes like whitening the whites or to add volume, etc. but for an all around good shampoo that gets the dog really clean without creating a mountain of suds that just have to be rinsed out, I think you'd like Tropiclean. As has been mentioned, diluting it properly is key. That and being sure to get out every last tiny bit of soap in the final rinse.

I do have one update, regarding white shampoos.
I decided to try the human Jhirmack Silver : http://www.amazon.com/Jhirmack-Silver-P ... B004R7R8G6

It does NOT work anywhere near as well as the Isle Of Dogs or the Pure Paws white shampoos I have.
I might be OK for pets or retired dogs, but not cutting it for show whites. :(
Leonard will never be a show dog but still like to keep him super white. I really enjoy a good bath and blow dry for my fluffy friend. Good to know what works and what doesn't :)
