i am divided down ther middle

I have been hopelessly and fruitlessly looking for a job. One job for Habitat fpr Humanity, i thought i was to start at the beggginning of May. Now it's the beg. of June and they just now wantt to start the interview process. I have been calling this guy forever and just this am i left an email saying that i wsn;t trying to be pesky i just didn't want this opportunity to slip buy. Then i went out to a child developmental center. Great b/c i am going into elementary education. I went there about nine and 30 min. later was asked to work for them about 5 min.s afer that question the guy from Habitat called saying he wants to meet tom. abouta start date. Habitat is about 25-30 hrs a week at min. 7 $. While the Child thing is 5.25 $ an hour with about 35-40 hrs a week. I have to be saving for a house and upcoming nuptuals. I just.... I would love the job with th ekids. Sure it is long hours little pay but... Habitat is veryy relaxed, less hours more money. I need to think about Chris's and I's future. School won't be a problem for either job. I need some out side opions. It just sucks b/c i have been courting the job at Habitat, now to be almost there i am getting cold feet. And who know how great the kids are going ti be,ya know. I would hate it if i take the lesser paying job only ti hate it and have to give up a well paying, stable job.

I don't see anything in your message about why you don't want the Habitat job. Sometimes organizations take a long time to make hiring decisions. In my experience that doesn't affect the quality of the job. But I might be biased because I would love to work for Habitat and would not want to work with kids. To my mind, the Habitat job sounds great -- more money, great organization, relaxed atmosphere, good cause. Wow!
Take whichever one you think you'll have the most fun doing. If you think about it, $7 an hour at 25 hours a week is almost as much as $5.25 at 35 hours a week. As far as I'm concerned always pick the one where you can work less, especially if you're in school. Work smart, not hard!

Valeries's right, a lot of organizations take forever making decisions. Don't ever work at a university if you want fast results at anything! It took me allmost 7 months to actually get hired at my job when I began. Now we're hiring another new person and we're into the third month and they just made an offer.

If you're going into elementary education, have you looked into job opportunities through your college/university? I know a lot of the internships/practicums offered now pay pretty well. There are very few non-paying internships anymore. It might be something to look into.
I would choose Habitat too....
You should choose whatever job you think you'll enjoy more in my opinion. Doing a job you enjoy helps the days go by faster, and less stress involved.
Take a job that you will love and ignore the $$ amount, in time you will move up and make more, or move on with the experience and make more.

IF you want a career in teaching, and LOVE LOVE LOVE to be around kids all day, then I would work towards that as a goal.

Question tho: Doesn't Habitat use volunteers to help with their projects? Be a volunteer on weekends, and be with kids during the week. Can you be with both part time...or something that allows you the exerience with both.

DO WHAT YOU LOVE....true story--->A guy I know has a license to be a helicopter pilot but can't find work in that field. So he learned about computer programming and did what my husband does (same company), he makes good money but found it too stressful and hated it. He stayed tho for quite a few years until the comapny laid some people off...he asked to be let go with that group. Now he had no job so took a part time job at PetsMart, now he is the full time dog trainer (I am in his class with Tag). He has allergies to dogs and cats, yet this is what he loves to do. He enjoys going to work everyday even tho he makes a quater of what he use to.
Chose the job that you think you will like the best, the one that has your heart.
Shannon-Do you think that the child job could look good on your resume later since you want to work in elementary education? As a fairly recent college grad, I know how difficult it is to find a job with not much to back you up on a resume, so I am all about relevant resume building! I think that the Child job could possibly help in the long run.
But if it was my choice, I would definitely do the Habitat job, just because more better pay/fewer hours sounds good (slacker!) 8)
Ya i know i had resolved myself to the Habitat job just because it wasa good enviroment and more $. My Fiance thought so too. So i go in for the interview, (the guy at Habitat called me when i was filling out the app. to the child care job.)I thought it was the best interview that i have ever had. I am completley honest when it comes to this, so sometime i sell myself short, like there was a job mon.-fri. 9-5 cleaning residentshomes, 12$an hour. I am such a neat freak and i looove to clean, yes i know i am weird. I called uup there and she asked if i had experience but she fraised in way like for at hotels and stuff asnd i panic and said no. When i had, i used to clean for elderly neighbors and when i was at a site for child care. so i lost it needless to say. she probably laughed at me when i got off teh phone. NEWAys got off track...... the guy liked me. But he mentioned that they were looking at some other people that had more hand on experince for this type of thing. It is for an office manager pos. !!!! Then he said well now we are only going to pay 6.90 an hr an only 20 hours a week. That i can not do. how can i save much of anything if gas can eat up a whole check. So i called the Child care lady back, after talking it over with Chris, and she was in the middle of changing a diaper but said would call me back later today or tom. mornig. I am excited. I just hope everything works out.

Say yes to both and then quit whichever one doesn't work out! Not very helpful advice but that's what the new guy they hired here did! Went through the whole application, interview, selection, security clearance process which takes about 7 months, trained for 2 and a half weeks and then put his notice in!

So it could be worse than 2 options, you could have none at all! Thankfully you have some options and you can find what makes you happy. Ask yourself which of these jobs puts the biggest smile on your face and which you can be proud to tell people that you do and you'll be able to make your choice.
