Coffee pot recommendations anyone?

I need a new coffee pot. I will not pay for a Keurig or anything like that. I don't really care for Mr. Coffee type brewers either. I hate to admit it, but I like percolators (electric ones). Anyone have recommendations? It's just me, so I brew just 2 or 3 cups in the morning.

What about a French Press. Bodum makes a good one.

We are on our 2nd one of the Hamilton Beach Brew Stations. NO carafe - wonderful. :D You just press your cup or thermos up to the button and hold it and let it fill.
Todd is a major diehard coffee drinker and the 1st one I got he was skeptical about. But he loved it so much that when it died, he insisted on getting one like it as a replacement.

PS - Todd loves percolated coffee too - so if he likes this kind, it must be OK!
Thanks to whoever fixed my misspellings. Keep the ideas coming! I love the Farberware perc, but not the price.
I still have the same Corning electric coffee maker that was around while my father was alive. It is over 40 years old and still works well and makes great coffee. It's been submerged in the sink as well as the dishwasher. To me, all the Mr coffee types do not last very long, and the cleaning of the unit is a PIA! I wonder if Corning is still around? :lmt: And because I have very limited counter space, my corning doesn't use much. (maybe 36" on each side)
I suspect you will find the cost of this to be over your budget for a coffee brewer, but the new Behmor Brazen is the best home coffee drip brewer made and the only one that you can control brew temperature. That's an important thing and nearly all coffee brewers sold fail to bring the water up to the right brewing temperature.

OK, I'm a coffee nut and have roasted my own coffee beans for about 12 years. But there IS a difference, and like most things, you get out of it what you put into it.

Here is a site where I buy green coffee that sells the Brazen. It also has more information on coffee than you probably want to know.

This is my next coffee maker!!! Love it.
I agree the $$ for the perc is way too high. Amazon.com has it for 50% less. :excited:
I think I have most all types of coffee makers except a percolator (been thinking about it) and a K cup maker. Figured out the cost per cup for the single and just didn't fit me. Plus I want more than a single serving at one time.

If I must do a small amount, less than 4 cups, I'll use a french press or the good old Greek coffee pot, a briki. Yeah, I like my coffee strong. If I'm really lazy or for summer frappes I'll use my cold water Toddy. I always have some frozen coffee concentrate cubes in the freezer.
Dont know what makes they sell over the pond. But my mom has a Tassimo coffee machine, we also have Bosch. Both excellent :D
Those are both good machines. But remember, the original post was she wanted a percolator. Those were the norm just a few decades ago and many prefer that style coffee to this day. A percolator was my first wedding gift and at the time I never drank coffee, DH still doesn't.
I used to love, love, love when my mother brought out the percolator. It was a stovetop model and I was just absolutely fascinated watching it bubble up into the glass handle/top/viewer/whatever that is. I'm still not sure why the coffee in the bottom of the pot chooses to boil up into that tiny tube... I might have to google that. LOL

Of course I'm sure those early childhood memories are enhanced by the fact it was always for a holiday gathering/meal with extended family, like Thanksgiving. Sigh.
The "on top of the stove" percolator was 2 pieces. Water went in the bottom and coffee went in the top. The coffee basket had holes in the bottom so when the water boiled, it went into the basket and through the grounds. You had to have a good sense of timing when using an on top of the stove percolator.

Now I'm leaning towards the original Melitta, which is a "pour hot water over the coffee." That was the first coffee pot I had and it couldn't be easier to make. I just remember if the coffee was decent!
Yep, that was my wedding gift. Never was too sure how long it was suppose to perk. Early memories of my father making the coffee first thing in the morning, then he'd light a cigarette and watch the coffee perc. I like your family Thanksgiving memories better.
We still have a couple of the Corning stove top white coffee pots. :D
Todd grew up using them...but he finally went to the coffeemaker. We have one of the OLD Corning ones that we take camping - use it on the fire or camp stove.
I had a roommate with a Hamilton Beach server like the ones shown and I loved them! It just was hard to clean.

After a lot of research last winter I finally bought this Cuisinart but with a metal carafe to keep it hot. http://www.cuisinart.com/products/coffee_bar/dcc-1100.html We love it.
Melitta also has a smaller size that fits over cups.......actually mugs and allows you to brew directly into the mug. I had one at work plus an electric kettle. When a noncoffee drinker complained about the smell (coffee smell) I began bringing the coffee concentrate from Toddy.
French Press or Stove top percolator with fresh ground coffee all the way! Simple, strong, delish!
