Disinterest in food; retching

Our OES Roxy is almost 11 1/2. She slowed down a while ago and has been taking two different medications for arthritis pain that worked reasonably well.

We've been pretty good but not perfect about her diet and minimizing human treat food. But in the past couple of weeks she has refused to eat her regular dry food mixed with a beef product that she regularly ate before. She won't eat the dry food even when mixed with some human food favorite--that's a big change. She will sort of eat the beef food but not robustly, she is clearly off her feed in a way that is different from a stomach upset. On top of this, or perhaps related, she will occasionally retch for no reason, mostly while lying down. Doesn't throw up though.

She's going to the vet later this week but we're concerned of course. Seems like more than old age. Anyone have experiences with this sort of problem? I think that 11 1/2 is getting up there for an OES but we don't want to lose her!

Could be the arthritis medication is too much for her stomach. It can be hard on them. Keep us posted what the vet report on this may be. It's hard when our loved ones turn into senior citizens.
It's funny she loves pills. Never has an issue with them, gobbles them up. Even when not eating.....
Maybe she has an ulcer? One of the dogs I had growing up was high strung and developed an ulcer later in life. Or like above, the medicine is tough on the stomach. We would feed our dog mashed potatoes. Bland enough to eat in small portions and helped keep the food down.
Hope she feels better!!
I agree with checking for stomach issues due to the pain meds. Tagamet may be helpful if that's the case. Be sure to come back and talk with us after you see the vet; we all as a group have a boatload if experience with OES and tummy issues.
Maybe far fetched---But, perhaps she has a tooth issue? Older dogs regularly have teeth problems which could cause infection or they may not want to chew because it hurts...... There may be some back teeth in there that have some problems---could be broken or rotted. I'm sure your vet will take a close look at the teeth!
