2nd Annual Dayton Area Sheep-In, 2012 - PHOTOS!!!

What a wonderful day!!! I feel like I owe someone for the PERFECT weather! The only glitch was that the sun didn't poke through the fog quite fast enough to burn off the morning dew but I can happily live with that. To the best of my knowledge, everyone had a great time.

With regards to my photos, I had two things working against me, first off I was flying solo as Jen's arthritis was in top gear all day Friday and when Saturday morning hit, she could barely move. Secondly, my resident photographer Dave had to work so I was down a shutter-bug. And let me tell you, Dave was dearly missed.

Jen and I decided it would be best if I showed up really early today to get things set up. Well, that brilliant plan to show up early has been thrust down the toilet - the entrance to Kyle Park is smack in the middle of a mini marathon route... These people either need to run faster, earlier or better yet, just drive; they would have been there by now. I planned on getting there around 8AM and thanks to these fitness freaks, I didn't get to the park until nearly 8:45AM. Once there, I set up my tent and got things under the tent set up just in time for Diane, Robin, Nita and Darrow to show up. It wasn't long after that a new attendee pulled in almost about every 15 minutes. It was great!!! So I was forced to take a detour to get to the park. I made one turn and saw this little guy. I still had my window down after speaking with a deputy when I saw him. Without even thinking about what I was doing, I yelled in a fairly high-pitched voice 'DONKEY!' and he turned to look at me. So I snapped his photo.

So here are the few shots I got.

Erin, (Gertie) talking with John, Andie'sDad with Gertie at her feet

Jade, Diane and Robin with Evee and Benson

Evidence that Zoey and Caitlyn were taking their hosting duties very seriously as Diane noted in her post.

I'm always posting photos of Caitlyn after a bath and I always get the 'how do you keep her so clean?" I don't 'keep' her clean, I'm just picky about the photos I post. Here is what Caitlyn looked like after a short ten minutes in the dew covered grass!!! I wasted three hours of my life that I'll NEVER get back on Friday bathing her!!!

A couple food shots - the first is Erin's deadly pumpkin volcano something-or-other thingees. I don't remember the name, but I'll never for get the flavour, WOW!!!! These thing ROCK!!!

And my now famous Bacon Explosion! I tweaked the recipe and totally nailed it over last year's!

Evee patiently waiting for Mommy...

Group shot!!!

Thanks to all who were able to make it and help make a great gathering!!! We had a total of 15 Sheepies which is the same as last year. Jen was so sorry she missed out but was glad to hear everyone had a good time in her absence.

Hey Cindy - Harmony was at the cruise-in, came back for the dog park gathering and we ran into her again at the City Park. She's stalking me... in my mind anyway! She's great!!!

One other thing, I had a co-worker show up just before the group photo. She's convinced she wants a Sheepie so I told her to come out and she'd get to see many Sheepies and get a better idea of what she'd have to look forward to. After seeing all these great dogs, she's hooked. Something tells me we may have a new attendee next year and Nita, you may be getting a phone call and an application very soon!!!

Thanks again folks, you all are awesome!!
Vance, Jen, Zoey and of course, Caitlyn

Thanks for hosting again this year. The weather was perfect, the food was great and the dogs were so much fun.

Sounds like fun!

Looks like everyone had a great time! Sorry I missed it this year. Glad to hear Harmony is still joining in the fun!

Cindy
Thanks for ALL the effort you put into making a GREAT day.

Erin/Doug/Gertie
wow food really looked yummy....and those sheepies Just geogrous..how did gertie stay so white?? My dogs get yucky every am in the dew..Looks like a grand time was had by all...
Thank you, Vance, for facilitating another wonderful sheepie get together - the food, watching our dogs run and play, visiting new and old acquaintances, and just getting together for some fun was great. Olive is exhausted, another good sign of fun. We live at our dog parks here in Louisville, a place Olive relishes playing with her many friends so meeting at the Tipp dog park was a perfect setting for my Olive. Again, thank you for all your efforts on getting us together.
Chuck and I couldn't help but notice how much Denise's Olive looks like our Winston. After checking our paperwork, it turns out that Winston and Olive are brother and sister from the same breeder with the same sire and dam.
What a coincidence!
Thanks for organizing another great event, Vance.   Hope Jen is feeling better too. :roses:

I have a few pictures from yesterday so I'll hijack your thread and post them here:

Nancy, does this mean we are related!? You are very observant. Not only is Olive my first rescued sheepdog with a known birthdate, but now she has bio-family. How fun.
Denise, it was Chuck who first noticed how much they looked a like. I think the fact that their hair is about the same length helped make the connection easier to spot.
Yeah, if our dogs are brother and sister, what does that make us?
Who would have guessed that this little event would turn into a family reunion? How stinkin' cool is that?

Thanks for posting your photos Nita!!!

Vance
Fun pics - glad you all had a good time :D
:wag: :ghug: :ghug: :wag:
Wonderful pictures! Thanks for sharing. Looks like the grand playdate was great fun!
Oh how fun! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you Vance for hosting another wonderful event. I hope Jen is feeling better, we missed her at the gathering. I Love the photos :)
AND . . . more photos! Robin and I grabbed well over a hundred (and I confess, I stole a couple from Vance and Nita's posts  ), and I put together a slideshow. It's about 12 minutes long (never too long to look at Sheepies, IMHO), and in mostly random order. (I use a Vimeo account, rather than YouTube, so you'll have to click the link.)

Once again, thank you, Vance, for hosting such a fun event. Robin, Benson and I had a great time meeting so many forum members and their furbabies. And besides the Sheep-In, we enjoyed walking around town while getting to know you and your beautiful girls! Give our best to Jen as well.

:ghug:
I love all the photos! Looks like it was fun for all! Wow the food looked good!
Thanks Diane!!!! That was the best twelve minutes since Saturday!

Right about the 9:30 mark is a great shot of Darrow 'riding' Nelson; or at least that's what it looks like.

I agree! Great video!!! Thanks so much for putting this together, Diane. :yay:

Had to go back and look for Darrow and Nelson. I've always promised to break the legs of anyone trying to ride Nelson like a pony. Nelson was getting a bit obnoxious with a couple of other dogs so he was just holding him back. Since losing Sassy, Nelson has taken her place being the "fun police". :headbang:

What fun to watch! Thanks so much for putting it together, Diane.
Fabulous slide and video show of the day!
