Green Boogies in eyes

Okay, I know that the green boogies in the corner of the eye signifies some type of infection...Does anyone know what kind? Panda woke up with one in her right eye...gross...and I think she was dripping from her nose a little bit...a cold...what do i do for the baby??

Is it possible she scratched her eye with something or poked it or a cat scratch or something? I would wash it a few times throughout the day and see if it goes away on it's own, but if it doesn't then I would get her to the vet. Eye discharge can be an upper respiratory infection that may turn to pnuemonia. I've only ever seen that in orphan puppies, not usually adult dogs. With adult dogs it's usually just a scratch or something that got in their eye.
Can I use my saline solution on it?? instead of water??
Yes, that won't hurt.
I found a link on first aid, and it gives instructions on how to clean a dogs eye.

Just either use your edit>find on this page> tool for the word saline, or scroll down.
Thanks willowsprite...Ill try it when I get home
I would recommend a very close inspection to the cornea of the eye to make sure it's not scratched. The vet can run a quick test where he puts some tincture in the eye to find them easily.

If your doggie has an scratch, try to see if you can get him some pain releiver and lots of rest. I had one of those a few years ago and they are very painful, nothing you can do except rest and wait.

Try washing Panda's eye with saline solution (Visine or any other human solution will do good) to see if there's any foreign object sticked in there. Alyo, you may want to try some boiled down cammomille (sp?) to wash his eye, it's a very good home antiseptic, just make sure you use no sugar to avoid feeding any bacteria on the eye or leaving residue. Dip a cotton ball on the solution after you washed your hands and wipe from the nose out, and do not reuse the cotton ball twice.
Well, Brian took Panda to the vet yesterday....$90.00 later...no scratches, just an eye infection...topical ointment applied 6x's a day...How could she get an eye infection? Its not like she puts her paws in her eyes :D
