What a day-Everything that I touched or was near to broke.

The day started with Joan telling me that her PC's email client was having trouble with her oes.org email account.
Then the dishwasher had some troubles with the way it had been loaded.
Then the clothes washer sounded like it wasn't getting enough hot water during fill as it had two days before, but then there was this ominous buzzing sound...
Then I went to the garage to get a bucket to put the washer hoses into so I could disconnect them and test the water pressure, and as I was in the garage Joan came home... I had to sprint for the house as I wasn't exactly presentable to the world.
Then Joan comes in and tells me that the garage door opener stopped in the middle of the cycle.
Then I go out to look to see if there's a reset button or circuit breaker on the unit and I bang my hand on it.
Then I turn on my work spot/flashlight and the bulb burns out and I don't happen to have a spare 19.2 volt bulb lying around.
Then I'm back working on the washer and the freshly charged $80 Lithium-Ion battery fails after running a low-power fluorescent lantern for only 20 minutes (should last hours, so the battery must be bad. I had been surprised it was discharged before I charged it back up because I usually charge them before putting them away).
Back on the washer, I sort of remembered that there were mesh filters in the water inlets in the washer so I better check them.
Then I moved the washer and dryer to gain access to the "new" water shut-off valve, the valve is sticky, but after operating it off and on again the washer has better pressure. hmmmmm, check the filters anyway.
They were completely clogged. I poked a small hole in one as I was trying to very carefully remove it.
I asked Joan to get the toothbrush from the clipper carrying case but she can't find it.

I thought about the problem and decided that the proper dental instrument for this is not a toothbrush... it's a waterpik! It worked a charm.

I went back to the garage to look at the opener with a new flashlight, when I pressed the button it started to move. Hmmmm, the motor must have overheated and self-reset. Let's take a look at the door; yeap it seems a bit difficult to move. I lubricated and worked on realigning the garage door -- but only succeeded in making it a little bit easier to move. It still needs some work.

I called my dad and related this story to him and told him an old punchline: After everything I've been near or touched today has broken, I'm afraid to go take a pee.

I recalled my Shakespeare and heeded Falstaff's words that "the better part of valor is discretion" and decided to live to ride another day. So with my partners Fear and Trepidation I decided to code a few changes to the forum.

How was your Saturday?

Better than yours- but I have had days like yours. Glad Sunday is here for you!
Man, sounds like a rough day!
I've had days like that! And the whole day is shot!

Washer screens....we have well water.....so you know those screens clog easily. Grrrrr. Maybe it's my machine but some mutant somewhere designed the connection on the machine as they are nearly impossible to put back on. I've heard plumbers utter a blue streak dealing with them. Thanks for the tip on the water pik!
A day of Murphy's Law, if it can go wrong it will. I hope your Sunday is treating you better.
My Saturday was better. However, I did something to my ankle. It hurts like a mo-fo, but I didn't twist it or step funny and no, my horse didn't do it.

Ron, a day like yours results in my eating a bag of potato chips and a candy bar!
The washer screens, just for Susan:

Sounds like you had a rough day Ron. I hope Sunday is better. I had a few bad days last week. I got up and broke my glasses. This is a problem because I can hardly see without them. Dale had to help me find my old ones. I couldn't see as well but it was better than nothing. When I got ready to leave the garage door wouldn't open. I think it has a short in the wire to the button insifde the garage. We finally got that open and of course that made me late getting to work. I always go early as I don't know what the traffic will be. I opened my room and the light in my storage closet was burned out. The computers were not working and my students could not log on to do their work so I had to devise new last minute plans for them. They are 8th graders and need to have someting to do every minute. Then I was told I will now be doing Lunch duty from now on. I just finished my bus duty rotation.
I thought I would have been better off to go back to bed.

We have the same issues with washer screens - well water! :(
Whew! What a day you had and all I can say is, "don't come near me Ron or I might go broke".
