Beards

I'm thinking about trimming Eevee's beard a bit. It's starting to look like a goatee and I don't like it, and Jacob thinks she looks like a boy  Does anyone else trim the beards? I'd like to see some pictures before I do it myself.

Oh yes, they need trimming.
Bond's has been done twice now. Last week I did both Chewie and Bond. No goats here!!
You can just start snipping away at it until it's the length you like.
One way is to look at your dog's face from the front and see a circle. Trim up the beard so it fits into the circle look.
If you go too far, it looks snippy and pointy - so better to leave a bit extra ;)
I completely shave bloos beard off. His muzzle hair is down to his chin so you cant see any bald. Bloos beard gets wet and sore skin as its so dirty, so for him its much healthier to cut it all off.

Its up to you. Dawns advice is great, trim from the front to desired length.
Trimming some is good but using a thinning shears keeps the nasties out of Nelson's beard without making him look flat-jawed :-)
i always shave billies mouth. apart from the fact it holds about a pint of water which he loves to shake everywhere, and the huge water trail from his water bowl. his not keen on having it brushed and also he gets infections in his lower lip in the crease so i have to keep that short. i try to keep the front a bit longer so it doesnt look daft
I just trimmed it down a couple minutes ago, it looks much better! All the fur on her chin was coming together in a big triangle and it looked funny, it's a lot more rounded now.
You do have to round it off or it can grow like not only like a goateeeee but to rival santa too 8)

Before santa, eat your heart out !!! :P

After Rounded off still long but on a chicky babe not looking like a blokes goatee. 8)

Wait till you get to body coat, even though the standard says not altered by scissors, sometimes you have to trim so they dont look like a Hairy Yak.

Hairy Yak moms been grooming but has not tipped/trimmed for awhile the body coat.

After !!! No more hairy Yak :rimshot:
Whispering sweet nothings into Kelseys ear :hearts:

I think I like the hairy yak look lol but not the Santa beard! Haha a dog with a beard like that would have to be dressed up as Santa for Christmas!
Santa? Yeah we can do that
Still would like to know how you do that Lisa. I use a flea comb to get the fine bits out & she is mostly white but still working on that bit
Speaking of beards -- anyone share some of their whitening "secrets"? I think it's a hopeless cause, but maybe someone has a good idea. Doesn't look too bad if it's dry, but as soon as it's wet -- ick! Have no idea how to get rid of stains. Any help is greatly appreciated!
