Debarking - Update 2

Pepsi and Peanut made it through surgery just fine.
I was told not to let them bark for a couple of days or the procedure won't work. I don't know why this is. Also how do you stop a dog from barking...lol That should be impossible.
They will be home later today. I warned my son that he can't do anything to make them bark...or I will debark him...lol
My son is a bit of an instigator as far as Pepsi is concerned. He will bark at Pepsi to get him to bark. My sister is supposed to take Ryan tomorrow for a while so I will have to meet her outside or all the dogs will bark...
Harley hates my sister. Not sure why.
Cross your fingers that the dogs stay quiet!!

Fingers crossed here!

I find it amusing that you're not to let them bark. At my house, that would mean cancelling the mail and blocking the street so no bicycles could go by.

Oh, and no UPS trucks allowed on the street either. FedEx trucks are fine for some reason.

I hope this works for them. I know it was a tough decision to make.

Luckily just bedrooms are in the front of the house and they normally don't go in there. So they can't see the road
The big problem...besides my son, is when they all start playing.
My Sister in law suggested putting them in crates. I guess she doesn't realize that barking is all Pepsi does when he's in the crate. It may work for Peanut...but I believe his crate is somewhere in the attic
There is no way I am going up there. It's probably 130 degrees up there. Maybe she will lend me a travel crate.

I'm glad that the surgery went well for them both. But, WOW, what a challenge to keep them from barking for a day! Geesh! Did they send "how to" instructions?? Good luck!!
OK Dogs are home. I was given sedatives for both of them to keep them from barking. My Sister In Law gave them injections at her house before we headed home and I have some to give them tomorrow.
My Hubby had to meet me at the car to carry Pepsi in.
After about ten minutes Pepsi decided he wanted to go outside. So I went with him. Harley joined us out back. Pepsi decided he in going to jump on Harley when Harley came over to sniff him and he fell right over on his side. I couldn't help but laugh. I had to help him up. It is really windy out tonight and with Pepsi all drunky he was standing kinda weird when I helped him up his butt was leaning to the side, causing him to be off balance. He was not sure what was making him stand weird so he turned around to see it was his own butt... Then proceeded to fall again. :P lol

Pepsi hasn't tried to bark, but Peanut has....BAD Peanut!!!
He's got this cute little huff now....but if he keeps it up his bark will be back.
Wish me luck!!!

Glad to hear they made it through okay! If you figure out how to get a dog not to bark, I'd love to know for Jasper ;) He's howling now, because my parents are making him stay in the family room instead of in bed with me. 8O I'm in the living room, and I can hear him. Poor guy, but it's lineloum (sp?) , and they don't trust him as much as we do to have free run of their house at night. He doesn't realize that it could be worse - he could be outside "enjoying" the rain & wind that Arlene is bringing us right now! lol
Glad to hear all is well. Keep them from barking? HA!!! Good Luck!!!
Well the sedative kept them quiet last night.
I am waiting a little bit longer this morning to give them the next one.
Pepsi did try to bark.... After our Earthquake...
So whenever they start getting rambunctious I will give it to them.
Tasker's Mom... I think if I make it through today all should be fine.... I hope!!
Gail, I hope Jasper didn't howl all night. How did you make it through Arlene?

Elissa
We live in central Mississippi, so it was just rain & wind by the time it got to us. :) I have a friend in Pensacola, and she said it was just a baby storm. After the time FL had last year, I hope they're all "baby" storms this year!
Gail,
Glad to hear that all you had to deal with was wind and rain.

Elissa
Elissa, how's it going? The girls barked last night and I thought of you, LOL.

Well Peanut has this little tiny bark now. I love it. Pepsi sounds like he has laryngitis. Between the two the noise is minimal. Peanut running around with his little bark, bark, bark and Pepsi with his Huff, Huff, Huff.
I don't know if this is the end result yet. Sounds like it with Peanut, but I need to call my Sister in Law and find out what the actual recovery time is.
So far so good...
