Dog names

Just thinking about boy names to go with Jonah, Gabriel, and Zachary. I like Noah but it sounds too much like Jonah, maybe Aiden or Nathaniel? Girl names, only had one girl and she was my sweet Daisy, lots of choices there.

Ezekiel.
Go with something out of the current norm - Bob, Bill or Jim. For a girl, Julie, Mandy or Nancy.

Let the dog's personality stand out, not their name. The two names we chose for our girls were very traditional British names.

Vance
Sometimes their personalities are such you would NOT name them that!! :rimshot:
LOL dogmom :D . Even funnier because it's true!
Your more than welcome to use my hounds name Gideon
So right, **it Head is not socially acceptable but often the best name.

I've tried to wait a day or so for names, something strikes a fancy. Jack because of his Jack in the Box habit of counter surfing. Others arrived with a name thru rescue or shelter and we just stuck with it........Simone.
Personally, I like "Ronny"
:D ^ I actually wondered how long it would take you^ :D
Holly, are you trying not to outright tell us something? :D
I was thinking Nathaniel would be a very nice addition. :hearts:
Would you want to go with a flower name for another girl?
Always like flower names for girl doggies......Dahlia, Rosie, Pansy....be my luck to get a "thistle."
thistle in boy's name = ???? :|
I usually call my puppies "stinkweed".
Honest, it's a term of endearment!

I resisted the urge for as long as I could!
Just daydreaming :) I do like Dahlia for girl though apparently my next dog will be named Pickles 8O , or Ronny

I wondered that too LOL

I like the name Eli or Emmett
I do not like Jack as a name. We discovered quickly, when we had lily's brother, how inapproprate that name can be. The command for the dogs to move off the couch is off....so it went "jack off" 8O

If i ever get a boy sheepie of my own, i would name him tribble.
I need help in finding a call name for a puppy dog starting with "S." Apologies to Lisa and Mim (plus Wayne) who have already given me suggestions. Wayne's suggestions do come with conditions attached!!!! Unfortunately the breeder concerned has already used a lot of the 'S' words and names. If I can't find one suitable I see this little guy hitting the ring still called 'puppy.'
Lorraine
Hi Lorraine,
I also thought of Shadowfax from Lord of the Rings but it's a bit long.

And for those of you who are wondering Wayne has claimed that if Lorraine uses one of his suggestions she has to give him a free puppy.

How about Silas, Simon, Samson, Stuart........

Our first female OES was Lucy---named after Lucy in the Lion the witch and the wardrobe...

Our almost 2 year old OES is named Dahlia!!! :D

Seems perfectly reasonable to me... :sidestep: 8)

Need to think some more about the "S" names. Any hints on proposed registered name? Some times it's easier to tie one to the other. And some times not

Kristine
have fun 8)

for girls...what about Ruth..means satisfied companion ..Amzi...my stregnth....

for a boy, i really like Havoc...or bob :)
Just ran across a dog named "Spencer"....thought that was so cute!
I forgot one of my favorites....Sherman
Kristine - No registered name as yet. I was driving home last Saturday and heard the running of one of our main races and a colt won called "It's All Too Hard." He is the half brother to a mare my niece straps, Black Cavier, who is unbeaten in Australia and also England. With this major win his value went up millions with his potential stud work after racing. I rather liked the name as it is really getting hard to find a name.
'S' names are not jumping out at me at present. I like my (show)dogs to have a stand-out name that has not been used in our showring in Australia.
Mr Poo Bum

Mr Piddlingtons

Sniffingtons Smythe

Ole Scruff

Slobby Chops

I could go on.............
Stonewash
would be my name
Seabiscuit (It's all too hard..... Like hardtack, but also another horse link :)
Our 2nd OES was Sherman--fit him perfectly--

Samual

Scout
When i was waiting for a puppy i made a list. The names i was going to call Bloo were -
Spyro
Bandit
Digger
Skye
Buster
Odie
Ozzy
I wish i called him Ozzy, i this Ozz Bozz is cute ;)
For a girl i thought -
Daisy (oes puppies look like cows)
Fizz
Sparkle
Magic
Sydney ;)
Samson, Sky, Steven, Smythe, Scout, Sage, Simon.......

That was on my list for girl names too! I started making my list of sheepdog names when I was about 14. Daisy, Dotty, Betsy, and Buttercup. I liked all the cow names.
Jacob shot them all down. And then I picked Eevee, and he liked it!
Spangler. (Spangla)

American dog, star spangled banner and all  Oh and if a lively naughty pupper, Satan or stinka.
Skipper...

We had a pup for 4 days without a name. We just kept calling her 'youwhoo' while we thought of a name.
An old lady walked by us and asked what our pup's name was. I told her we didn't have one picked out yet. The old lady yelled at us!

Good luck picking a name.
Thanks, Lisa, getting closer. I have always used formal names prior to this and it is really hard to think differently. I am reading a very scarey novel on the reincarnation of Jack the Ripper, so there is always "Strangler" !!!! "Its All Too Hard."
How about Bon(e)apart?
If you look up Spangle in a thesaurus you get star as an alternative so I like Spangle, Spangles or even Spangler.

I knew a dog called Spanner once. It suited him. It makes me think of fixing things and practical, manly types.
Thank you everyone for your input - I am most grateful. I actually do like Spangler and have not heard of another OES with this call name. It helps to ask for assistance from people such as you on this list and to have your willing assistance. Thank you again.

We will have to share. Solomon's solution would not work.
Before I start handing out a puppy to you two to share, I need to know:
a. No swords around Tiggy, too dangerous, so Solomon's solution is definitely out.
b. can you both handle a 'real' male as Tiggy (a lovely sweet, kind, little puppy when you got
her, Mim) seems just a little out of control at times and Sid just doesn't want to come to
shows anymore, just lies around home and poses for pictures for everyone to go goo ga over
his eyes (a 'Lothario')? And he is a son of my stallion dog, Abraham.
c. what timelines are you thinking of with this sharing and how about sharing mine when I want
to go overseas? Even though it appears we are possibly going to the same place next year,
Mim, so it will have to be Lisa doing to the minding.
d. if you are coming to watch our specialty next weekend to learn how to show as I am sure
you have both forgotten.

YEOWCH, ladies. You've been TOLD!

Kristine
Yeah I know kristine, she is a cranky granny

Hey mim if we follow solomons solution, I get dibs on the front half you can have the rear, 8)

Then we could name it, Split or Harvies
Our Golden is part of the Boo litter, so he became Boo-Koo Bucks or Banker. It's unusal enough that I don't have to worry about another dog with his name. Visa and Discover (too many syllables) were in the running. lol
Lisa, I think Lorraine would be naming us Half A**ed!! 8O

She still is a lovely sweet, kind, big puppy who just gets a tad excited by visitors and anything involving running. :D

See here she is with her other Grandma being a sweet, kind big puppy.
Tiggy has a look of her dad in that photo, so relaxed. Am off to another show this morning to show Gaby who has not been shown for 3 months and is normally a handful in the ring. Butter would not melt in her mouth yesterday and she showed to RUBOB from junior (6-18mths). She will either do beautifully again today or turn into the show girl from hell again. Cranky Granny.
How did you guys go today Lorraine? It crossed my mind to come but I had guests staying from Sydney to get to the airport so it just didn't work out.

Let me know when you're showing next. I've not had the opportunity to meet Gaby. If I've no plans I'll come along and say hello.

I always think Tiggy looks like her Mum. From my memory of meeting her Mum, Tiggy is long in loin like her Mum. Tiggy is very good at relaxing especially on couches and beds, human ones that is. She rarely sleeps on a dog bed preferring the tiles or floor boards. She does like to rest her chin on Rastus' bed when she's sleeping under the curtains and his bed is her fave place to lie to chew her bones. But for serious sleeping she's likes nice cool tiles.
We won our class only today. However, I am thrilled that she stood still and went round the ring on a loose lead. Perhaps her 3 month break with kennel cough, a season following and my being away for a month has matured her. We have our specialty next week at KCC Park with Shane Armstrong judging.
No, Tiggy has more a look of Jacob in that photo but in your logo looks like Beatrix in head and perhaps in nature, in that she is a little princess and extremely precious. She showed great promise with obedience and a friend involved in dancing with dogs had her doing a whole lot of dancing exercises. Beatrix, is a small bitch and very short in the loin.

Oops ok I must must be remembering Dad or some other rellie.

I will check my diary as from memory this weekend is free, good chance to come and say hello. Shame Lisa is so busy with new house stuff or I'd drag her along.
Mim - The show starts at 2.30pm at KCC Park. Look forward to seeing you there.
