Why does she tip it over? Why? Why? Why?

So our lil' Gracie has made a habit of tipping her food bowl over, usually before she eats any. And that isn't enough, she'll trot over to the other girl's bowls, and knock them over too. I'm tired of our floor being covered with kibbles (if we had normal dogs who ATE all their food, wouldn't be such a problem).

Why does she do this???

Who knows but I'm sure she's laughing the whole time. You might want to invest in tippless bowls, though she'd figure them out too, just take longer.

She could be doing laps in the water bowls.
Cuz it tastes better if it's on the floor. Anything that falls on the floor is legally mine--Snoopy.
Maybe she likes to eat off the floor because she doesn't like her bowl.
Dogs were/are scavengers. Maybe she's more primitive than most? Maybe she's just a slob ;-)

Have you considered putting her food in one of those toys that they have to play with to get the food to emerge? Though if she's not a big eater, that may not work. But it seems like she's treating the food bowls as toys anyway. At least with that type of toy she has to 1) work for her meal and 2) can't dump it onto the floor in one go, she has to get it out one kibble or so at a time.

Not sure how to keep her from dumping the other bowls, though.

And, yes, I do believe I'd take that over water bowl snorklers

Why?
(1) cos it is fun.
Why?
(2) cos it annoys the grown ups!
Why?
(3) She doesnt like to see your floor all nice and tidy.

But

She is a sheepie, and they love to make us laugh!

well made me laugh anyway... :wag: :wag:
one of ours used to paddle in the water bowl!!
Sue nailed it!!!

I had a water bowl swimmer too. Could you get a wooden box or something to fit around the bowls snugly, and then affix that to the wall/floor?
Aw Gracie is having fun
Why not?

Does she paw at other things?
How about dumping the food into a baking sheet? Its flat but keeps the floor clean  My dogs used to stick their feet in the water bowl
Maybe she likes to hear the sound of the kibbles bouncing all over the floor. I'd go with trying a new no tip dish. That's all I've ever used so never had a problem with spills.
