anyone else have this happen?

What a day I've had!

Wake up and cramping like a mug.
crawl back in bed.
daddy lets yuki onto the bed to wake me.
...well, yuki has no concept of "stepping AROUND or OVER humans." She prefers the quickest path which is right ON them. lol So in an attempt to say good morning to Mommy, Yuki does a little pounce dance on the bed and coincidently gets on my tummy.

ME: GOSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YUKI. GETTTTTT OFFFFFFFFF, you nerddddddd!!!

Yuki: how many licks does it take to give mommy a full bath!!! ((kiss)) ((kiss)) ((lick, lick)) I swear she's got one of those disney tunes in the background following her whereever she goes. The one that's usually of a big grizzly bear strolling around as SLOW as possible. ba-dohh-doh-dooooo...

So I get out of bed.
Yuki is THRILLED because it means it's BREAKFAST TIME!!!
Sees me coming down from the hallway and heads my way. Me at the edge of the step try dodging her, and by my OWN clumsiness (trying to be too clever but wasn't), I fall down with my ankle completely twisted when I hit the floor!

SCREAMING in pain... Yuki decides to lay on top of me to comfort me roooooooo roooooooo'ing every time she hears me cry.

Now my ankle is blue and I'm waiting for my husband to come home to help. I'm fine, but Yuki knows something is wrong. She's been making sure the cat and my other dog are gentle when coming near me. she takes her head and kind of pushes them off my lap and then sits next to me. lol

Anyone else have a goliath? 8)

My heavens! Be careful and take care of yourself. In case you don't know,
some of us become more accident prone or clumsy while pregnant. I'm
sure you already know that though.

Isn't it funny how the animals react to us. When my animals, especially
the dogs, began attaching themselves to me I thought maybe I had just
become inexplicably much more lovable, but later found out I was
pregnant! For a while I felt like I was constantly peeling a dog or cat
off myself. But the funniest was when I started really showing, my dogs
knew the 'area' was sort of off limits. So instead of their normal jump on
my lap, they would rest their chins on my belly and pushing with their
back feet, slide up my belly to get nose to nose with me. There was also
a lot of doggy head-resting on the baby belly, which was sorta sweet.

Yes, they did get very protective. Protective to the point of annoyance.
Once when my oldest son and I were clowning around, Tucker
misunderstood what was happening and dragged my son away from me
by the pants. He never got nasty and never touched skin, but he made
sure we were apart and stayed between us till he thought it was safe!
It was so funny, but I know Tucker thought he was helping. He
understands clowning around much better now! Now he jumps in too.

The dogs always seem to lay on top of whoever isn't feeling well. No
matter who it is. Although they are gentle I am not real keen on the
monsters laying on my toddler, but they will usually settle for
'next to' in that case. You gotta love em!

Hi,

I'm of the school of thought that animals can sense things about us regarding any medical issues. Yuki, is just being super lovable towards you (more so than usual if that's possible) :D

Silly things don't understand when they pounce on us as way of affection it's ummmmphhhhh to us!! Take care of yourself and put ice on your ankle.

I remember someone writing a post once about getting a black eye from their dog, when the head and eye bonked together. Think these boys and girls should come with a label....known to jump and accidently cause small injuries which are immediately cured with a face wash of doggie kisses.

This week I've had the flu and have spent a lot of that time either on the computer or snuggled under blankets watching TV. Urg!!! All three of the boys feel they have to take turns giving me face washes and curling up next to me..so that I'm squished in a fetal position on the couch. My knees are killing me!! I long to stretch them out..but nope one dog on the couch and two are next to it. Everytime I get up...all three get up and I feel like I'm playing dodge ball walking down the hallway!

You poor thing! Of course Yuki doesn't know her own strength or size, but wow! Looks like you'll have to start wearing a suit of armor for protection!

Please be extra careful. We're all here for you, whenever!

Chris
Please take care of yourself and best wishes !!!!!!!!!!

When Bogart was a pup, we were practicing a leading
exercise I was in front and he was behind me on the
leash. Happy Alpha that I am, things seemed to be going well.

Suddenly, he came prancing around my left side in a
large semi circle and came straight at me with the
leash in his mouth. I looked down and he was standing
straight in front of me with the leash in his mouth
millimeters from my knees.

You could see steam coming from his ears...
I felt like a weekend Matador.

He successfully stopped my leading.....
so I headed in the opposite direction and
he used the same technique.

Thats why we affectionately call him EL Toro !!!

Now that he's older, he enjoys the walking exercise.
( I wear my flamenco skirt with full ruffles, I'll just dance
myself right around him if he goes into El Toro mode
again!)
You guys are great. I knew it couldn't have been nothing new with OES'. With all that love, they're bound to cause trouble. :)

Marianne, you're hysterical. Sorry to hear you've been sick. Blech.. :( Hopefully you're better by this weekend, so you can spend it having fun.

That's cool that your boys love you so much. I'm yuki's friend when DADDY isn't home. lol ...oh, and food time. ;) Otherwise, she wiggles right between mommy and daddy ...and once there's a gap... she plops her gigantic bootie down so I'm no longer snuggling with MY HUSBAND.

Mr. Joah always jokes when he finds Yuki sharing the pillow with him. He says, "Ahhhhhh, my other wife is here. How lucky am I?"

What a morning you had!

Your story made me laugh. I am the one who got TWO black eyes from colliding with Henry, but I have to say he didn't even notice.

You do learn to be careful about any fast movements around these guys--they are always exactly where you are about to step, we call it herding from in front around here. Henry manages to herd from the front quite successfully. Remember RICE for your poor ankle: rest, ice, compression, and elevation.

Take care and a big hug to Yuki.
Ahhhh that was you Henri's mom!!! Sorry I hadn't remembered I claim it's due to my fuzzy brain. I've been missing your post previously and it's good to see you back here again!!

Joahaeyo - Are you feeling better now? How's the ankle and tummy?

Zahra, your post made me chuckle as I recently went to a show (Musical Agility with dogs) and the grand prize winner of the evening was a woman wearing a Flaminco outfit whom danced with her dog. Sigh he even grabbed a rose between his teeth at the end to present to her!

I was on vacation for a couple of weeks. Henry was in jail (his favorite kennel). I hate leaving him for so long. The BF was traveling on business while I vacationed, and he was kind enough to pick Henry up from jail on the day I got home. This is unusual, he rarely gets home in time to get my little Boo. I was so excited to see Henry when I arrived that I could not stop hugging him. After about 15 minutes, the BF said piteously that he would like a hug too.

The truth is that I have an unreasonable love of my dog. Nobody loves this dog as much as I do. In fact nobody really likes him much, he is badly behaved and not all that friendly with others, except the BF (who is the love of Henry's life.) He jumps on people and bumps them over, you all know exactly what I mean about the klutzy dog thing. At least I try to be nice to the BF too.
Marianne-

My foggy recollection was that you had signed up
for Musical Dance freestyle with your sheepies..

How is the class ?
Joahaeyo-I don't have any trouble with the 97 lbs of OES in my house, it's the 2.8 lb maltese that is going to kill me!!!! He is so tiny that it seems like he is everywhere at once, can't even count the number of time's I've tripped over him. Plus I think he's going to shred my hands with those tiny teeth of his!!!! How can anything sooooo small be soooo fast!!!!

Take care of yourself. For the ankle remember RICE Rest, Ibuprofen (which in your case I would omit), Compression (ace bandage), and Elevation :D
I was pregnant with my son and was out walking my Boxer Roxie... (Crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2000)
It was the dead of winter and late at night. She sees another dog way out in the field and just takes off with the extension leash, I tried to prepare for the jerk I was about to receive when she reached the end of the line, but I was standing on a piece of ice and had no traction. I went flying and fell stomach first onto the ground. Roxie had pulled the leash so hard it snapped. I then had to get up and chase her down. Man did I want to kill her. When I caught up to her she just looked at me with those dopey alien looking eyes like what did I do?
When I was 8 month pregnant with Ryan we had just moved into our house and were redoing the room that would become Ryan's room.
There was no carpeting and Roxie's crate was in there. The floor was uneven and Roxie was pacing and making a ton of noise. I just wanted some sleep and was so tired. I went into the room, Took Roxie out of the crate then tried to move the crate to a more level spot I picked up the crate and Roxie was very upset by this she got between me & the crate and when I went to set it down I lost my footing and fell on top of it. I put my hand out to stop my fall and caught my elbow on a piece of metal at the edge of the crate... As I went down the piece of metal cut me from my elbow to my wrist. OOOUCH!!!
I swear she was trying to kill me...lol And I was such a good Mommy to her... Even did CPR on one of her puppies.
When I was pregnant with Hayley, Pepsi constantly jumped up on me. (Didn't get him until I was 7 mos pregnant)..
Harley ate a bed.... yes literally ate a bed... He was very nervous during my pregnancy... Been fine since the baby was born.
Peanut...constantly jumped on my stomach.
Be careful of the dogs... and your own clumsiness. I don't know if you were clumsy before... I was!!! But you will be a lot more clumsy during your pregnancy...especially the bigger you get.
Be Careful!!
