OESD Parent Club Champ show UK

Good show today & lots of OESD. Will post some pics when they are sent to me :). Weather was another bad one so it was inside & Val & Mel were there as well. Got lots of help from Val on the day, which helped lots & Georgi got a trim from Val ( So big thanks to Val ). Crufts winners was there today & so was few OESD from Spain as well. Georgi won her section & Val done very well winning hers as well. Judge was from South Africa but UK born. I am still not too sure about the crufts winner today ( my opion little of it ) their seem to be better OESD out there today but what do I know. You think you are grooming a part of the dog in showing but then its pointed out you are just out & get shown the right way. I think that is great & you learn a lot faster like that

Talking to people & numbers are down from a few years back. I think it is

1. Cost of the fuel in the UK
2. People have no spare cash due to the troubles around the world
3. Judging. If most people know this is a issue why don't they take some sort of action. You are not going to please everyone but people know who is going to win before hand & that means we have a issue. People don't like to speak up which I can understand.
1) Congratulations! Sounds like you had a good day!

2) Judging is apparently not as predictable here. I was just talking to one of the American "names" and she mentioned that - as opposed to most years - she wasn't hearing anyone predicting who would be winning our national specialty this year. I laughed and reminded her that the last time predictions were rife, she won, and NO ONE predicted that, including her <g> Last year when I would have predicted she had a good shot, she didn't win. Well, she was still in the ribbons, as she should be. She genuinely has nice dogs.

The system is a bit different here, and typically not as political at the class level (not yet CH dogs and bitches) as it is among the specials (finished CHs) Few OES are specialed anymore ($$$), but some of those that are are heavily promoted (advertising etc) and it tends to make a difference at the all-breed level, but ironically not so much at specialty shows.

Nice that you have the flexibility to move the show inside when the weather is inclement! I love showing outside and I think OES look better on grass, as do most dogs, really. But after the 1999 American national specialty, when a hurricane came through and organizers had to really scramble to get the show moved indoors, OESCA now has a firm rule that the national specialty has to be inside. Having stood there watching sweepstakes and obedience in high winds and a horrible downpour, I really can't argue with the logic, but on a nice, sunny day...I have my regrets about the indoor part.

Looking forward to the pictures.

Unfortunately i wont be going to any more champ shows because bloo is going in for the snip in a few weeks, but i can see the fun in your pics once they come :)
