Storms

First, I know there are alot of storms out there throughout the country so hope everyone is safe.

I was wondering if dogs actually feel a storm approaching? My two seem to "know" a storm is coming before it is actually here. They start to circle around and velco themselves to me or my husband and seem "on edge". How would they know? Do they feel the pressure dropping or something?

I don't know if they can, but today I trusted my dog and went downstairs.
He has never been afraid of storms. I have never had a dog that was. But
today he repeatedly crawled into my husband's lap. It was just hilarious.
He wouldn't stop, and then after we went downstairs he tried again. I told my
husband to ignore him because I didn't want to encourage him - and he crawled
up on the piano bench next to my husband. He weighs about 100 lbs - you just
had to see it. :clappurple: We did get a bad storm. Tomorrow is going to be
much worse though.
So, I don't have an answer to your question, but I think I will trust the dog again

I know my dogs know when a storm is coming, they all gather around me. Violet is extra sensitive to when a storm is developing and I can tell by watching her that she senses a storm.
I know when storms are coming....because of the dogs. Now it is only Harry, but before it was the pack, coming to me, drooling on me, whining, trying to crawl under me. Paige would see clouds, judge their size and determine threat. If building CNs.....she bark at them until they barked back..thunder. Then it was find the storm shelter time. Harry feels the change in atmosphere, change in sun patterns, even with window blinds drawn.

Last night there was lightning to the east, he was a mess. Finally I closed all blinds in the room, turned on the lights, turned on the fan, sat in my chair and let him lay across my feet with this head shoved into a darkened area, put a blanket over my head to hide the light..... And so I slept for 3 hours...........
I just read the link provided by Guest and it does say dogs are efected by the barometric pressure before we feel it. I assumed so. aSo, can I get my dogs a job at the weather channel? They seem to do better in prediction that the weather people!
Hope all of you are safe in these storms. We just get lots of rain
