Dayton Sheep-In Hotel Reminder

For those who are coming to the Sheep-In on September 29th and need to book a room, you still have about a month left before the discounted price goes away. The LaQuinta Inn in Tipp City is offering us a rate of $76 a night, (versus their regular rate of $89) but you have to have it booked BEFORE September 7, 2012. When you call in, mention the Dayton Sheep-In and they'll try to keep you all together too!

SWEEEEEET!!!!!!!!! Our first New Yorkers!!!!!

See you in a little over a month!
Vance, Jen, Zoey & Caitlyn
We're hoping to still come but with Kenny's recent mood changes towards dogs we're not sure it would be good :( I dont want him making sheepie enemies :(
We had a couple of renegades last year and everyone actually got along fine. I think once they realize they were all the same, there was little to no competition.

Vance
We're still planning on coming as of now....Kenny may just stand by us alone haha. We're driving distance so i guess no harm in trying :)
The bright sode here Rob, if you do come up and Kenny is still giving you fits, you'll have a HUGE resource base to get awesome, firsthand advice from! There will probably be many people who can help out. And if Kenny decides to be a good boy, all the better. So coming up shouldn't be considered a risk at all.

Vance
Vance- what is the schedule for the weekend? We might day-trip.
Kathleen
That's a great point Vance! Tag on to Kathleen on the schedule question.
Sometimes living in the Isle of Man is just not fair. Cloud and I would love to come to this but is a bit to far to swim. Have a great time guys :hearts:
Kathleen - the date is September 29th, 2012. Here is the page that has all the info you need - http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=38225

Look forward to meeting you!!!

Debs, you're more than welcome to attend. We'll bring towels to dry off Cloud after that long swim.

Vance
Roughly ONE WEEK LEFT to get the discount!!!! If you plan on coming and spending a night, stop procrastinating and get your reservations made soon. So far we have two members who have made reservations and one non-member who just adopted a dog through Nita!

See you in several weeks.

Vance, Jen, Zoey and Caitlyn
Wow, I wonder who made that nice flyer?

I made my reservations just a couple days ago, I actually didn't put it off until the last minute for once!
Jade, you know who did the flyer - YOU DID!!!!! And a very public thank you for doing it!!! Although I noticed you didn't sign your work. From and artist, ALWAYS sign you work, ESPECIALLY if you're doing it as a favor.

Last year we had a lovely OES for adoption and he took an instant dislike to Teddy, who was just a puppy at the time. Maverick gave me fits the entire time but luckily, the dog park has two separate areas, which made it easy to keep them apart. By the end of the day the two dogs were walking side by side through the Mum Festival. So much has to do with the stress level of the handler. They really can sense when their people are uncomfortable with such situations.

Maverick went on to be adopted and has never been a problem since. The Sheep-In alone can correct behavior problems! :yay:
Now there's an endorsement for the Sheepie-In!!!

Vance
Vance- activities for 3 kiddos have me stuck near Columbus for most of Saturday. We could meet up with you all in the late afternoon and join you for dinner. Keep me posted if late arrivers have a chance for fun. Thanks!
We, Cindy and Teddy, and Val and Heart were at the park until like 4PM. The dinner afterwards was very spontaneous but this year I'm sure will be a planned thing. If you want, you can PM your number and I'll send you my cell number and we can keep in touch throughout the morning. I will say that we didn't go to a restaurant that is dog-friendly and I don't know of any around here that really are. So if you come for the Festival in the afternoon, you may be in a pickle regarding where to keep your dog during dinner. Those who stay at the hotel can leave them in the rooms and we took ours home. Just something to think about. If I come up with any great ideas, I'll post it/them here.

Vance
I'm pretty sure most hotels don't want you to leave a dog in your hotel room unattended. It was a part of the pet policy at almost every hotel we went to on the way to Florida, so you might want to check with the LaQuinta. Also, I'm staying at the hotel the night before the Sheep-In and then driving home Saturday night, so I wouldn't have a hotel room to keep the dog in anyway. Any ideas?
Actually Jade, most responsible dog owners who travel a lot carry their crates along for jus this type of situation. These are the dogs who can be left in a crate with every confidence that they'll behave and not make any unruly noises. It's really no big deal. I know Heart and Teddy freely fit into this class.

We'll try to come up with something but no promises.

Vance
Eevee is a barker, she barks at every little noise, and I figure that applies to hotel noises. She barks whether she is crated or not.
Dale bowls on Friday night so we are just coming for the day. We would have the same problem with not having a hotel room. Looking forward to meeting everyone. What time are we meeting on Saturday and where? What do you want me to bring? We didn't make it last year due to a death in the family.

Bonnie/Carley's Mom
Bonnie - we plan on simply gathering around 9AM at Kyle Park which is on the south side of Tipp City. Below is a map I posted last year BEFORE I found out that they weren't shutting down the downtown area during the Festival. This map has you driving around the downtown area but it's a cool little village and I recommend you drive down through town and make a right onto South 1st Street and then continue to the park.

As for what to bring, whatever you want. you can go to the sign-up sheet and see what others have already planned and work around that. Here is the sign-up sheet -

As for your personal stuff, I'd recommend lawn chairs, umbrellas and maybe your own choice of beverages just incase you're not inclined to like what others bring. I know Jen and I will be supplying Tim Horton's coffee again, regular and decaf.

Check the flyer for other info that I may have missed.

See you all in THREE WEEKS!!!!!
Vance, Jen, Zoey and Caitlyn
Vance, you just got Jacob super excited for the sheep in, he LOVES Tim Horton's but we don't have one anywhere near here.
Tell him I'll personally drive him to our local TH!!!

Vance
I so wish I could come!! Sounds like so much fun:) I think I will start a sheep dog event fund for next year so I can zip all around and attend all of these events. WAIT that is not the problem I always have too many dogs to travel I can never say no to fostering dogs on death row. geeze HAVE FUN!!!!!!
Cindy, your absence is for more than noble reasons. For that, your karma will be strengthen to Unimagineable levels!!!

Vance
Vance or another tech person. How do I print the flyer to put on my bulletin board?

Thanks
Bonnie/Carley's Mom
PM me your email address and I'll send you the flyer in a PDF format.
