Uh-Oh

I made the mistake of thinking once before that I could shave a dog. That dog was Garfunkel. I made a mess of him.

Since than I've learned alot. Simon had some matts around his neck so I tried to brush them out. Simon does not hold still and after fighting(nicely) with him I decided just to shave them out. Mistake #1 was trying to shave them out, mistake # 2 was I ran the shaver down the length of his body 8O . That was easy...bzzzt, bzzzt, Oh Lord, what did I just do??? That ear looks funky...bzzzt, bzzzt, no, no, no that looks worse...bzzt, bzzt. That really looks bad, grab the scissors and snip, snip.

The result you may ask? I decided to stop while I was ahead. Simon has one long ear and one chopped up ear and some bald spots on his neck.

I'll call the groomer in the morning and beg for mercy.

Been there, done that.

Heck, that was my mom's attempts at cutting my sister's and I's bangs :(

It would be a little uneven, so trim a little to shorten it...oh, too much, so trim up the other side....and we'd end up going to school the next day with uber short bangs and big white foreheads. :( :headbang: :headbang:

Back in 1958, my mom was stuck with bangs two inches above her eyebrows! I have her kindergarten picture here someplace, it's pretty funny. I learned to cut my own hair, so I don't have to deal with short bangs unless I mess up :D

Remember, if you mess up, it will grow back! (there is an episode of king of the hill where LuAnn is cutting hair, that's a quote from it!)
Anyone coming to my house in the last month has witnessed
my poor dogs partially shaved. That's no joke, although it
is a bit funny. Zeke is shaved all over his body, one leg, most of
his rear and I trimmed around toes only on two other feet. It looks
like a mowing accident.
Poor Tucker is only shaved from his hip bones back. It helps with the
diapers, and they fit better without the fur. And the bonus is the belt
he wears to keep up the diaper helps to pick him up off the floor.
He is so very sick.
I just couldn't bare to see his skeleton sticking out. He must be below
40lbs now, just skin on bone. I did also shave most of his head so he
could see and stay fairly clean of food, mouth and eye goop, etc. So
because he is to thin, he looks like a tiny headed ribcage with stick legs.
He's not in pain though and doesn't really care how he looks, thank god!
At this point whatever helps me get Tucker through another day is great.

I really have no excuse for having let these trimming jobs go unfinished.
I really wish I could get just one of them done, but life is happening, and
the trimming has lost priority right now. The dogs don't care, it's my
hangup!

I know that episode :)

Maybe there is something in it - I learned to cut my own hair too, as soon as I was old enough to use the scissors!
Shellie - whatever works!

I got a hold of the scissors once when I was maybe five or six... I had really long hair then, my hair was never cut until I was ten, but I went and lopped a piece off... From the top...
I still remember getting yelled at for that one when my mom noticed all the short bits at the top of my head.
